David Axelrod on Meet the Press with David Gregory this Morning
Edited on Sun Nov-14-10 06:35 PM by KoKo
To watch the Video you will be subjected to many "Commercial Breaks" but I urge all DU'ers to watch Gregory's (Dancing with Rove) interview with David Axelrod as Obama wings his way back to the USA(Knowng the Huge Democratic Losses in this Administration} and sends Axelrod OUT THERE ON "Press the Meet" to Defend the Losses in the Election, the first Leaked Report from "Deficit Commission" and the news that the RW Put out about his supposed FAIL in his ASIAN TRIP.

Listen to Axelrod for the whole interview and WEEP FOR OUR DEMOCRATIC PARTY GOING FORWARD. With a Spokesperson like David Axelrod...We Dems Might as well GIVE IT UP!

The Link to the video unfortunatley has NBC putting in Commercial after Commercial so you have to listen to Ads for BOEING and what it's doing for Air Travel repeatedly... and you have to keep hitting "Back to Interview" to get the WHOLE INTERVIEW WITH AXELROD...but it's WORTH IT for those of us who want to know WHAT OBAMA IS GOING TO PRESS CONGRESS AND SENATE ON ...after this huge defeat for our Democratic Party.

-------------

LISTEN HERE, VIDEO...with the COMMERCIAL BREAKS... Sorry no TRANSCRIPT, YET for DU'ers who NEED TO READ. http://www.davidgregorytv.com/blog/2010/11/the-economy-was-the-story-this-week-as-the-presidentwrapped-up-histen-day-trip-to-asiawhere-he-faced-international-resistance.html

November 14, 2010
My wrap-up of Axelrod, McCain and an Economic Round Table--David Gregory, "Meet the Press."

The economy was the story this week as the president wrapped up his ten-day trip to Asia where he faced international resistance to some of his biggest goals of the visit . He now returns home to deal with domestic opposition as Republicans push for an extension of the Bush-era tax cuts.

Axelrod

This morning I sat down with President Obama’s top advisor, David Axelrod, in his first interview since the Democrats midterm losses. The president's trip abroad has been ripe for criticism after the U.S. failed to secure a free trade agreement with South Korea and a G 20 document that has been criticized for being weak and vague.

I asked Axelrod about how the two failed trade deals will affect the U.S. economy and the Obama agenda in the coming months. Could the Dems midterm loses have hurt the president's influence abroad? He told me that was not the case and cited that American companies will get $10 billion in business and 50,000 jobs as a result of the president's trip.

Mr. Axelrod was also in the news recently for an interview with The Huffington Post titled, “White House Gives in on Bush Tax Cuts.” President Obama later downplayed the story, but we discussed just how much the Obama administration is ready to negotiate with the Republicans when they come into power in the House in January. He said the president stands strong in his belief of extending the tax cuts for middle class Americans.

"The middle class has taken a beating in this last decade. They’ve seen their incomes decline. And-- they’ve born the brunt of this recession." He continued, " But we can’t afford to borrow another $700 billion to pay for tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires."

Though, when I asked him to comment on whether or not the administration would cut a deal with Congressional republicans to extend the upper-class tax cuts temporarily so middle-class tax breaks could be passed before the January deadline, he would not comment. He told me, "David, we’re looking forward to sitting down with leaders of both parties and talking about those issues. I’m not gonna negotiate that with you here." See our exchange below.

2. Axelrod's statement about not being able to afford tax cuts for millionaires...
...was very good, but the second part weakens the first part - you know the prez is not considering a veto. Bad poker and bad politics.

and Dem Establishment. (I have to confess..I never heard of him until the Obama Campaign}...but maybe he was a "junior" player with Clinton and Carter and moved to prominence with Obama.

What I got from listening to this interview...was that Axelrod might better move over quickly to the Obama for 2012 Campaign...because he didn't inspire confidence in Me that he was aware of how we Dems who got out there and Voted are feeling seeing what we hoped was the NEW DEM MAJORITY swirl down the toilet on Election Day...after we all WORKED SO HARD since 2000 "SELECTION" to get More Dems Elected to both houses!

I was looking for a PUMP UP ..."RALLY THE TROOPS" speech and PUSH BACK when Axelrod Appeard on MTP.

I was surprised at what he said. I don't know what to make of it, going forward for the Dem Party.

12. I guess I'm basing my opinion on how unimpressed I've always been when
seeing him interviewed or giving a statement. I know he's got the rep for being a great campaign manager, so I think I just expected him to be a dynamic speaker.

I'm also wondering about whether or not they get that we are disappointed because we feel betrayed on some levels. I heard Obama say his base was mad for the same reason everyone else was -- jobs and the economy, when that's not it at all. I also read where they're concerned about the Independents that they lost between his election and the mid-terms, and I'm thinking hello? Remember us?

13. A Former Newsman
Wrote for various Chicago papers before going on to be a Press Secretary/Campaign Manager. I'm sure they think with his press background that he can hold his own against the betlway chattering class. He can't.

9. He has a reputation for "packaging black candidates for
white voters". I have read that in several places. I found that interesting. here is one place that mentions this, first paragraph:

3. Figures the media would spin this
Statement from AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka on South Korea Trade Negotiations

President Obama showed today that he is not willing to settle for an inadequate deal that doesn't address the very real concerns of working people and small business. Given the precarious state of our economy, President Obama is exactly right in holding out for a deal that puts working people's interests first. President Obama should keep fighting for a balanced and workable trade deal that will protect the interests of American and Korean workers.

5. I'm not following you -- I think this is complimentary - shows he's
sticking up for the little guy. And I'm glad you posted it because all the other media has been saying he 'failed'.

Or is that what you meant? :7

10. Trumka is hoping by showing support for Obama that he can "Move Him"
more to the Left. It's Politics after what we are hearing from Cat Food Commission that LABOR would try to show support to shore up Obama's Left Flank which is in a "questioning mode" after this disasterous Mid-Term Election Failure.

8. I think everyone was waiting to hear something about the Past Election from Obama Spokesperson...and
that's why. Even though they are Media Whores..it does make sense for Obama to put someone out there to answer to WHY DEMS LOST BIG in this Mid-Term Election, and why the "Deficit Commission" came out while our PRESIDENT was Abroad on a Mission...and talked about all the Cuts on the Table...BEFORE the WHOLE COMMISSION EVEN VOTED. It was like an INSURRECTION...and Obama was, seemingly, not prepared for all of this.

I fault the MS/Corporate Media for MANY EVILS.. but this in one time when they did, actually, have a RIGHT TO QUESTION...how the DEM MAJORITY under OBAMA turned into a TEA PARTY/REPUG TRASHING/CANNING of EVERYTHING WE DEMS HAVE STOOD FOR in this past Election.

I think it was important for Dems to have those questions ASKED AND ANSWERED by OBAMA SPOKESPERSONS. Unfortunately, Axelrod was the ONLY ONE TO STAND UP and VOCALIZE. WHY IS THAT? Where are the OTHER DEM/OBAMA Spokespersons who should be out there 24/7 Defending Obama? WHERE ARE THEY?

11. You heard? I just gave you a link to the whole thing? Didn't read it or watch? WHY?
 Kind of bizarre you'd post this after supposedly clicking on and reading the Post that you'd reply with...."I heard Axelrod was on "Faux Noise this am..WHY??????

Why not watch the "Meet the Press" (aka "Press the meat) interview which is more "Mainstream" than FAUX NEWS NOISE!

But, if you heard him there...can you please post the link to "FAUX NEWS" from the FASCIST SITE so that I can watch that to see how Axelrod's interview "over there" compared with the "Meet the Press" interview?

I don't EVER WATCH FAUX NEWS...It's blocked by me from my Cable...but if he said something different from MTP...I'd watch it from a link you gave so I don't have to go over to that Cess Pool and look for it and give them "HITS!"

Please...LINKY...PLEASE!

14. I did not say I heard him on FAUX NOISE. I heard his quotes on my local news station.
I do not receive FAUX NOISE in any of its forms...

My question was more to the issue of why Axelrod gives FAUX NOISE crediblity by appearing on their show...as I was told by my local radio news station...not FOX
