The headline is hardly worth it.

14. I don't know, either. I do know that Tina Brown of "Daily Beast" ruined the "New Yorker Magazine."
So there is some Publishing Blow Back way beyond Drudge at work out there at the demise of "Newsweek" to being "eaten up" by Brown's "Daily Beast."

Some humor there..."Daily Beast eats up News Weak"

Still that Brown has that much influence after here demise at the "New Yorker" does have some legitimate Publishing Crowd really angry.

Link from "Salon Mag." "Tina Brown Ruined the "New Yorker Magazine."

2. I'd like to think the prez and congress will prove them wrong...
...by bold moves during the lame duck session. What about all those bills passed in the House? Let's get some of them to the Senate and force the other side to vote against the people. There's a lot to be done if there is the will and leadership to do it.

21. Yep Arianna is not charmed by the President, but she's also friends with Newt
and he's no friend to any Democrat, so that doesn't really surprise me.

What does surprise me is Barbara Walters palling around with Newt. I mean, she wants to be a neutral talking head, right?

32. I pal around with a lot of Republicans
That doesn't mean I'm a Republican or that I lean right, and they know very well what my political stance is. We avoid talking politics.

It actually IS possible to have friends with opposing viewpoints. And I'll tell you that these friends are actually very good people who sincerely believe what they believe. I may think they're deluded politically, but I try to look at people as WHOLE beings, rather than simply the parts I don't like.

Maybe Barbara Walters and Arianna do the same.

33. So do I, but I'm not professionally or politically involved with them
and I don't make any money off of being a neutral news source, either.

That's the difference.

Both Arianna and Barabara are in the business of reporting to the public, and they make hundreds of millions off of being a news source with integrity.

After seeing the changes on HuffPost, I'm seriously doubting she can keep her personal and professional integrity. And that goes for Walters, as well.

34. Barbara hasn't been in the reporting business for
years—she does celebrity interviews and has a "women's" opinion show.

Arianna has a left-leaning news blog. I'm not sure what personal or professional integrity you're alluding to.

38. Huffington, Walters, and Gingrich make for strange bedfellows
and it doesn't matter if Walters hasn't been in the reporting business for years. Fact remains, she IS a reporter and Gingrich IS a rightwing hack.

That Arianna has a "left leaning blog" should also raise some flags after she's been seen vacationing with the likes of Newt Gingrich. The photo I've included was just taken this last summer, consequently also around the time the Huffington Post was going Drudgy all of a sudden.

But according to you there's nothing to see here. Move on. Me? I'm not that easily fooled.

6. first all, have you been out of the country? huffington has been trashing the Obama administration
for over a year, some justified, some not, and as for news in general, it is mostly gossip and innuendos, without a lot of consideration to facts

The purpose of that site, as the drudge is to be inflammatory and controversial so they get hits, and thus advertising

It should be pointed out that huffington was a repuke, who was leading the battle cry to impeach clinton, and whose good buds are people like Darryl Issa. It was only after her husband left her for another guy, that she suddenly overnight became a "democrat", which was most likely her way to get back at him, a republican.

9. Good analysis of HuffPo (getting hits = bigger ad rates = $$$$) As to Arianna's conversion
my uncharitable opinion is that she was having a hard time competing with Ann Coulter and Barbara Olson for airtime as an OUTRAGED conservative. Less competition on the liberal side.

Pentagon on September 11 when she was on her way to appear on the Bill Maher show. She isn't around to "compete" with anybody.

10. Hold up
Huffington Post is the most progressive website I go to for news. I visit here, too, from time to time (can't remember my username since I barely post here), but if people here are going to criticize HuffPo for criticizing Obama on good grounds, then wouldn't the people here be pro-Democrat more than pro-progressive? Pro-party over pro-values?

So they have some marketing experts on the staff over there, they might not know it, but some of the uses of images there shows a slant different then what the articles say.

39. Huff Post does kinda suck, with their over-inflated headlines
and all the celebrity gossip, shopping tips, foodie stuff, "Man eats HIS OWN HEAD" exploitation news, etc.

I want political news and smart analysis, not a website that tries to be about everything.
