What changes would you make to fix the economy?
Edited on Tue Nov-16-10 11:55 AM by Dawgs
I would...

1) Pass a single-payer health care bill that would cover most treatments. The insurance companies could cover everything else.

2) End tax cuts for the rich; and possibly raise them to 40%.

3) Raise the payroll amount for SS benefits to $250,000, but lower the contribution %.

4) Pass trade laws that would actually benefit the US; including making it not worth it to outsource jobs.

5) Invest in infrastructure, high-speed rail, and green jobs.

Shit, I can't believe I forget end the wars and cut military spending by the hundreds of billions. Wow!

2. Give the middle class the same percentage of tax cuts that Democrats gave the Koch Brothers.

Give the middle class the same percentage of tax cuts that Democrats have given to the Koch Brothers or Rupert Murdoch or all the CEOs at BP.

Make up the costs by raising the taxes of the top 1% and foreign corporations.

I, Know, I know:

"We did not/do not/will never have the votes" for that.

5. Exactly- dont expect the Democrats we already elected to do any of this.

Even when they did have the votes, they still did not have the votes.

At least now their time worn excuse is for real.

LOL! A majority *was* not enough- apparently the bar has now been raised to where we have to have "every seat" in both houses b/f we see anything even remotely Liberal.

Good to see that we are not setting ourselves up for any more failures! Magic numbers indeed.
