GOP says "H*LL NO WE WONT!" to the Slurpee Summit
Edited on Tue Nov-16-10 06:41 PM by Clio the Leo
Developing..... Thursdays bipartisan summit between the White House and GOP leadership has been postponed to November 30th at Boehner/McConnell's request due to a "scheduling conflict." Hello!!! You DO NOT have a scheduling conflict when the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES invites you to a meeting! I'm holding for a link ... WH press is just reporting this. But CLEARLY this can only mean one thing...

The teabaggers have John and Mitch tied up and locked in the Capitol basement and are now calling the shots.

Will post a story if I find one, but if you need a link in the mean time...

ETA: And how that translates to US is if there was going to be ANY movement on the tax cuts, it was going to start with this meeting.

3. See, this is what we're talking about when we assert that the president gets no respect.
They might as well call and tell him: "BOY, you meet with us when we SAY you do!"

4. Scheduling conflict
LOL!

Daily Kos

<...>

Update: White House statement from Robert Gibbs:

At the request of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Minority Leader John Boehner due to scheduling conflicts in organizing their caucuses, the President’s meeting with bipartisan leaders will now take place at the White House on Tuesday, November 30th.

"Scheduling conflicts in organizing their caucuses"? Are you kidding me? They couldn't be bothered to spend an hour or two meeting with the President? This is about as obvious a slap in the face as you can get. And what makes it all the more maddening is that comes after Obama has signaled that he'd be willing to compromise -- if not cave -- on tax cuts. Hopefully, the White House interprets this for what it is and realizes that these guys aren't interested in anything but destroying the President. The only way to get them to the table is to force them to the table. And you don't force them to the table by telling them they can have whatever they want.

5. What makes this even funnier is the Pres. is supposed to fly to Portugal Thurs. night...
.... for the NATO summit.

"organizing a caucus" now more difficult than international relations.

11. Republicans show their hand with this postponement.
If the Republicans can keep the tax cut for the middle class off until they take charge next January, they will pass a complete extension of Bush's cut for billionaires and everyone else and it will be the Democrats that will look like the evil ones voting against it.

Com'on Pelosi, get moving and get it passed without the billionaires.

"won't listen to their ideas" or "didn't invite them to the White House," I will bash my head against the television set.
