Why does the 'Tea Party' hate Obama?
This is a serious question, not a riff about Progressive discontent. And here, I don't think 'hate' is an overstatement. I put Tea Party in quotes because they are a coalition of somewhat disparate groups.

27. no doubt about it.
what makes me slightly nauseous, is that it is so deeply embedded in their molecules they baldly deny it; all the while coming up with lame ass excuses...I didn't think he was ready, blah blah blah.

Edited on Tue Nov-16-10 09:33 PM by Skittles
it was OK when black men, were, you know, kept down, but OMG *this* uppity (meaning he's educated) black man is PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. THAT is the root of what makes Teabaggers foam at the mouth.

14. Hate is what brings them together
the leaders of the right wing in general use hatred as a way to make people feel that all the bad feelings that they have inside are ok to express, that they are normal. It's sort of like a group of psychopaths meeting up and deciding that their behavior must be accepted by society because they all feel that way. Look at the things that Limpballs comes out with and the right wing keeps cheering him on, his fervant followers think it's all ok because they feel the same way.

15. They're just jealous because...
Obama has done a better job handling the economy than any Repig president ever will. The Tea Party is a joke, and after the economy recovers and Obama wins the 2012 election, the movement will cease to exist.

17. They believe his is giving their money away to people who don't deserve it.
When conservatives give money - by the tons - to rich folks, the TPs feel it's o.k. because "they work hard for that money."
The problem TPs have with Dems is they believe all the debt is to pay social security benefits out to illegals, lazy Blacks, folks on welfare, unemployment to union members, etc.
EVEN THOUGH a lot of them fall into that category.
They especially hate Obama because they think he has an agenda to redistribute their "wealth" to the Blacks.

OR they're just plain sick and stupid.

Edited on Wed Nov-17-10 12:43 AM by Mimosa
Even the Tea Party types would want the Denzel Washington/ Will Smith 'hero' to win at the end.

Even 'racists' voted for Obama. They imagined he would be a hero and fix everything.

29. No.
Race is a huge factor. For the tea Party faithful, Obama is a "community organizer", who organized "inner city welfare queens", so they can get "reparations" for slavery.

They see him as the illegitimate son of a "welfare queen", with an absent "African" father ... and, if he's mom HAD been black, their hate would be far worse. They would be saying OUT LOUD that his mom was a "welfare queen" ... they refrain because she was white.

His being a Dem gives them one reason, his being black is like racist icing on their cake of hate.

20. that's a founding premise of the club they want to belong to. This is not at all
about issues or the man. This is about polarization and in order to be comfortable in the world, some people need to belong to one group or another...and more's the better if that group excludes others. "Real" americans as defined by Palin and Limbaugh must believe in certain bedrock statements...most of which are lies. That's the price of admission...to believe in the lies, exaggerations, and propaganda. You have to believe 2x2=5 and that Obama is a marxist socialist radical. Then you're in.

They hate Obama because they are told to. They are given reasons to hate him (exotic, socialist, lazy, unamerican, bought by unions, uses teleprompter, etc etc) but the reasons don't matter...the reasons change every week.

25. Because the media covers for them and promotes them,
and so they think to hate him is logical, even when it isn't.

He's charismatic,
he's a Democrat,
he's effective at passing his agenda,
he's Black,
he's smart,
and hate the fact that Obama was overwhelmingly elected,
and they want revenge for progressives standing against Bush,
and they believe in an eye for an eye.
