A line in the sand for me.. I stand with the Democrats and the President

There it is.. the line in the sand.

I am not leaving my party for a left of aisle tea party lite.

I am standing with the President.

He is the elected leader of the Party I have been a proud member of for decades and still am.

I don't bend to the first wind that blows against me.

As long as my elected officials are law abiding decent people trying to get the party platform through.. I am not going to kneecap them from the sidelines.


You either stand together or you get mowed over.

3. Unfortunately, the Democratic Party is leaving the Democrats.

The "center" is now "center right," not the center between the 2 parties. Republicans stand their miserable ground and Democrats scrape and bow to make them happy. We're already getting mowed over.

There really is no alternative in today's political reality.

I support the president and the Democratic Party also, although I'm not impressed with their ability or desire to follow traditional party policies.

I'd feel a lot better about them if they stood for something.

But I won't desert them. Right now that's the best I can do.

Her post says 'stand with anti-equality religionists aginst your own family or you are a violent Tea Bagger trying to 'kneecap' the President. A horrible, awful thing to say about others. That is not self expression, it is editorializing about other people. The OP could have stated her position without trashing others. Civility is allegedly our common goal here.

To "stand" implies taking a hard stance from where one is not moved and there are not a lot of issues where the President and Democrats (members of Congress?) seem willing to stand and draw a line in the sand, but they do seem willing to compromise and offer concessions quite casually.

Is "a line in the sand" the same as "my party, right or wrong"? Because the President and Democratic members of Congress need a line in the sand as well.

Are we going to have a loyalty oath thread?

It's a good thing that line is in the sand and not something more permanent because I'm sure in order to keep that oath and keep up with the Democratic party and the president you'll need to be erasing it and moving it to another location a few hundred more times

The failure to end DADT

The ongoing horror of two illegal, immoral wars

The ongoing erosion of our civil liberties

The attack on public education

20. Of course, nobody would be so crass as to remind you that the party platform

called for a public option in Health Care Reform - and that it was dropped not due to Republican opposition but it was the Democrats who abandoned it without debate in congress, not fighting for their own platform.

Nobody but the left of the aisle tea party lite would dare want a public option.
