Murkowski: "I would not vote against a bill that had the (DADT) repeal in it."
Edited on Thu Nov-18-10 04:48 PM by jenmito
Matt Felling, KTVA TV anchor just reported on CNN that she said that today! He also said that he saw a "different Lisa Murkowski sitting across from me today," including that she said she looks forward to working with her "good friend" Tom Harkin on a child nutrition bill. This was in response to Felling asking her about her labeling herself as the "middle-of-the-road candidate." She ALSO said, "We don't need Jim DeMint poking around in our politics."

1. I hate when politicians describe their position this way...
Just tell us you're going to support a bill that would repeal DADT. Is it really that hard?

2. She's a conservative Repub. I'm GLAD she said what she said.
Her wording aside, the bottom line is she'd vote for the repeal.

12. absolutely agree - if she feels this gives her cover, so be it
I also suspect that this election really has freed her - more than ANY Republican. It seems that they are all intimidated by these tea party bullies - led by DeMint and Palin.

Now, what could they do to her? Primary her? They already did. I think she feels means it now that she is there for Alaska - which cared enough to give her a write in victory. Now, she did refer to Senator Stevens - she is a Republican, but I hope that see will allow herself to vote with the Democrats on issues where she agrees - something a few aren't doing.

68. Senator Stevens wasn't such a bad guy
when his record is looked at in its totality. He certainly was no teabagger -- and neither is Lisa. I think she knows she owes her victory to Democrats and moderates, so she may feel more free to tack left (I hope). She did have a reputation as a moderate when she was in Alaska's state legislature.

By senate standards she's not as 'conservative' as the rest of the nutballs like Demint and Kyl who would rather cause long term damage to the United States for short term political victories against Obama.

47. I think so. Did you see her interview...I forget with who...
But it was interesting to listen to her. I think she noted her hypocrisy in the past as far as interviewing with Rachel Maddow and you should hear her statements. They were really uplifting. She said first off that she condemns the Teaparty and she does not believe that Alaskan's make up the teaparty even though Alaskans may not want Government influence they understand government. She condemns Sarah Palin, says she has no relationship with Palin and said she believed that Palin hated governing. She also states that she's a moderate Repub and she's glad that Alaskans have proven her right. She will caucus with Repubs....but she still says she's unsure who her true friends are and I get the feeling she's going to end up leaving the Republican party in due time.

My enemies enemy is my friend, and my enemies friend is my enemy. Something like that.

Anyway, after what the GOP did to her if she follows them with a ring in her nose, it will prove she can't find her ethical center. Many Democrats voted for her, if she goes bad on them that won't happen again.

She may very well turn Into the Republican Lieberman.Like Lieberman she will caucus with Republicans
as he does with Democrats. But just as Lieberman goes against Democrats on some things she may be
reasonable on a few things. In fact she may be more likely to cross over to vote than Brown or Snowe.

The Republican leadership had thrown her overboard.Don't forget there may have been some Democrats
In Alaska who helped her write In campagin victory.

There were a lot of democrats that helped her. I watched on CSPAN when she announced she would run as a write in and there were democrats there who spoke up for her and helped her decide to run.

I tend to agree that she may not be so apt to tow the republican party line, and may even cross over to vote with democrats on certain issues!

there WERE many Democrats who voted for her, and she had vocal support from several prominent Democrats in the state, especially in the Native community (much to the chagrin of most of us). I think she has to know that she owes her victory to the center people here who put her over the top.

However, the only thing I ever liked about Lisa Murkowski was her dislike of Sarah Palin. Maybe she will come through, who knows? Never trust a Repub though.
