Wow! Norah O'Donnell on Morning Joe: Unemployment benefits are more stimulative than tax cuts?
Unbelievable that Norah O'Donnell is totally unaware of this fact! Apparently she has never seen a 'Bang for the Buck Stimulus' Chart! It has been in the news for a couple of years, first referenced by Moody's Mark Zandi. This chart is from the New York Times.

3. And, right near the bottom 'Make Bush tax cuts permanent"--29 cents for every dollar spent!

4. So, won't these 2-million-plus people now turn to Welfare? Won't that cost us more in the long

run, since Welfare begets food stamps, medicaid, etc.?

7. States are broke. Republicans are not only cruel, they are willfully ignorant.
Of course, many of them do understand the stimulative effects of unemployment insurance, yet they are willing to let people suffer to keep our economy from recovering, in order to hurt President Obama and the Democrats. It worked well for them for the mid-terms.

6. Professionally disinformed chattering class.
It takes skill and training to have the level of across the board consistent disinformation that is routinely displayed by the chatterers.

8. I was surprised Norah did not know this. She can be tenacious when questioning both sides--one of
the few on NBC or MSNBC who asks probing and follow-up questions--excluding MSNBC's prime time lineup.

13. I saw that and I think she was deliberately asking that question to re-emphasize the point
made a bit earlier in the conversation by Sam Stein. I am almost certain she did it on purpose to make sure Sam's point wasn't lost in all of Joe's thunderations. She wanted to make sure the point wasn't missed and that Sam had another chance to elaborate on it.

Very clever of you, Norah. Too bad you can't be more emphatic but it's Joe's show so...

16. Me too. It is fundamental to understanding
"stimulus". If she doesn't know it we can assume that most people don't know it. That would explain a lot.

10. IMO, she is one of the good guy ...
I don't get her acting too self important ...

And, by MSM standards, she is VERY good at calling wingers on their BS ...

I missed this, so I can't say, but IMO, she is one of the few day time types who isn't scared of her own shadow with Rs ...

12. I've alwas though NO was pretty good at what she does...
not the brightest in the land, but she can be very tenacious when she gets her teeth into something. Still, she has to get near the interviewee, once they know she's coming, the beg off or just disappear...:(

15. Zandi left the economic benefit of the death panels off of that chart.
Along with the all of the proposed GOP cuts to Social Security, Medicare, or any social net left.

We shouldn't have social nets anyway, we should have corporate nets.
And company stores.
And debtor's prisons.

That's what the Founding Fathers wanted -- I just read Sarah Palin's latest book - "America by Heart: How We Ripped Everyone Off, But No One Went To Jail"

Brought to you by Bush's Bank Bailout ~ We did it once, by gawd, we'll do it again!!
And from the makers of Darvon, "Sure we pulled it off of the market, but not for 30 years. Suckers!"
And British Petroleum, where oil spills are just a way of life.
