Pace for NewsMichelle Obama on her way to see "Fela." First Lady Michelle Obama got a workout in Harlem Thursday when she dropped into a Police Athletic League center and led an exercise class for the kids.
Clad in street clothes, she dropped down and cranked out a series of pushups and then did some jumping jacks and squats.
Later, she got the squealing kids skipping and running - and burning off plenty of calories - in a 20-minute session.
"You are our future, that's why I spent so much time with you guys," the First Lady told the kids. "Turn off the TV, turn off the video games, put down the potato chips and the candy."
"She's terrific and a role model for all of you and all of us," said former Manhattan DA Robert Morgenthau, longtime chairman of the city's PAL program.
She also was a hit last night on Broadway, where theatergoers gave her a standing ovation as she arrived for a performance of "Fela."
