18. +100,000.
Before anyone flames me, I don't think the president is stupid. Capable of acquiescing to Republican demands for stupid handling of complex matters, um, well, yeah.

2. So what would be an appropriate response?
Something between soft and stupid.

10. I think the appropriate response is one that happens behind the scenes.
Like, opening communications immediately with China about this & seeing what their response is. If KJI is off the leash, then encourage them to get control of him again. If they actuallly approve of his action (hard to imagine), then we start talking to the international community at large & plan our action in concert with the rest of the world.

I just hope we haven't pissed everyone else off with our stupid Middle Eastern adventures to the point that they leave us to stew in our own juices.

14. I agree. China and Japan together can control North Korea. Let them
spend some money on defense for a change - we do not have to do everything. Contacting them and asking them to take care of it is a very good move.

19. Appropriate response?
That should be up to the South Koreans, shouldn't it.

Oh, I almost forgot--we have 35,000 troops stationed in S. Korea.

3. Way To Push Republican Talking Points That Obama Is Soft
What should he do? Invade? So then he can be attacked from the so called "left" for starting another unneccessary war?

6. This Is Not A Situation Where He Should Care What An Idiot Like Cenk Will Say About Him
This is a situation where I for one am damn glad to have someone as cool and collected as Obama making the decisions.

Anyone who calls Obama soft because he doesn't start bombing the shit out of NK is an idiot.

12. I think he should just ignore it
Why does the US have to get involved in every damned thing? Let the U.K. or France lead the way on this one.

20. its called having Allies ... look it up in the dictionary
See like in WWII ... we didn't let Europe perish ... thats what Allies and friends do for each other ... they come to each others aid.

Today in the US, the freking selfishness (esp. here on DU) is astounding. Doesn't surprise me one bit considering today's youth and their

complete lack of personal bearing.

That's what the commander-in-chief should do.
