Dems need to show they're out there actually fighting for working people -Kathleen Kennedy Townsend

Speaking now to Chris Matthews on Hardball. Townsend is chair of David Brock's new liberal group, American Bridge, which is being set up to counteract Karl Rove's American Crossroads.

A new liberal group is in the works to be chaired by the late Robert F. Kennedy's eldest child.

Democratic political consultant David Brock told The New York Times that he's got $4 million in pledges to set up American Bridge, which he hopes to be the liberal counterweight to Republican groups that dominated the airwaves in the midterm elections.

Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, a former Maryland lieutenant governor, has agreed to be the group's chairwoman, according to the news report.

Brock told the NYT he would file the necessary papers today with the Federal Election Commission to set up American Bridge as a political action committee that pays for independent expenditures. That would mean the organization could take unlimited donations from individuals and corporations, but it would have to disclose its donors.

6. Actually, KKT served as Lietenant Governor here in Maryland and has always

worked as a public servant. In fact, I gotta hand it to the Kennedys. They are wealthy and didn't have to do much in their lives due to that wealth. But nearly all of them--if not all--have done something to give back to their communities. Mark Shriver, Maria's brother, still works in the Maryland state legislature and is doing well.

As long as she doesn't give advice on how to win elections because she lost one badly and introduced the world to Michael Steele who took her place as Lt. Gov.

9. Good to see her involved. And yes, they need to show they are fighting for working people.

And this means they have to start doing something about it, whether it is passing bills or making clear who is preventing this.

14. We need to go back to making policies for the middle class. That's where the power is. We need make

policies for the middle class. The poor, the military, and the old have their programs but nobody does anything for the vast majority of the middle class. If we could've sold HCR as a way to cheapen their premiums and making health care more affordable, we would've won. Insead we keep going to the poor(who already have medicaid and don't vote) and old (who are conservative overall and already have medicare).
