Palin Slams Michelle Obama Again, This Time For Anti-Obesity Campaign

First Posted: 11-24-10 03:05 PM | Updated: 11-24-10 03:31 PM

WASHINGTON -- An appearance by Sarah Palin on Laura Ingraham's radio show Wednesday morning drew a bit of pre-Thanksgiving buzz for a swipe she took at Barbara Bush for suggesting that the 2008 vice president nominee would be best served in 2012 by staying in Alaska.

"I don't think the majority of Americans want to put up with the blue-bloods -- and I want to say it will all due respect because I love the Bushes -- the blue bloods who want to pick and choose their winners instead of allowing competition," said the former Alaska Governor.

But it was another swipe at another first lady that stood out in a notably charged interview. For the second time this week, Palin threw jabs at Michelle Obama (the first instance came with the publication of Palin's book), this time calling her campaign to improve child nutrition another instance of a philosophical devotion to big government.

snip/video at link~

That the former Alaska Governor thinks the president's family members are fair game is now obvious. But the apparent glee she takes in attacking the first lady remains surprising, at least politically. Among the deficits in public opinion that Palin suffers are pretty harsh favorability ratings among female voters. Going after the first lady (who remains relatively beloved by voters) doesn't help that matter. Doing it over something as benign as trying to help children fight obesity seems confused.

1. Has nothing to do with obesity and all to do with her base.
They love it when the grifter/quitter attacks an 'uppity n_____' like Michelle Obama.

5. That is the motivator
She must stay in the news in order for her flock to remember who she is in 2012

as long as she is getting attention.

3. Stupid is as stupid does...
In a battle of wits between Michelle and Sarah would be a slaughter... except Michelle is bright enough to have mercy on this cretin and not come out to play.

4. Not sure that
Barbara will like being called a blue blood. What a dipshit this woman is. And now going after Michelle for taking up childhood obesity. Ceeeripes.

Keep it up Sarah.

16. If a Democrat/Liberal talker had made a "bet" such as "I'll eat my shoe" ...
would the Republican whom he/she lost the bet to take the high road and present the "talker" with a cake shaped like a shoe?

Hillary Clinton showed class when the Republican/Righty talker made (and lost) that bet ...

I would bet money that the Republican wouldn't show that kind of class ...

8. The story on Babs' remark about Palin. . .
http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_theticket/20101121/el_yblog_theticket/barbara-bush-to-sarah-palin-stay-in-alaska

"I sat next to her once. Thought she was beautiful," Bush said. "And she's very happy in Alaska, and I hope she'll stay there."

As the American humorist James Thurber once said: "Youth will be served, preferably stuffed with chestnuts"

9. So like the Dobson, et al, outrage at the book "It Takes a Village."
Riling up the family values voters who have absolutely no capacity to stop and think about what "family values" are really being presented by the right-wing nutballs.

She may be an idiot in so many ways, but she does know this is a very good button to push to get the GCRMs (Good Christian Republican Moms) in a tizzy. And I speak as a recovered GCRM.

14. I know. It's like bizarro world.
Nancy Pelosi brings up her five kids before her House career, then puts together the votes to pass a rather limited health care reform bill and the 'cans depict her as the spawn of Satan. :eyes:

11. Poor, mean-spirited, ignorant idiot. Keep it up and get flushed where you belong, Palin.
Edited on Wed Nov-24-10 06:43 PM by CakeGrrl
That earlier comment by the President: "I don't think about Sarah Palin" has gotta chap her ass.

She'll keep at it trying to get under their skin, and she'll not only fail but look even uglier to the public she's partially been fooling.

Let the "blue bloods" finish the job on this piece of crap.

17. Roland Martin has a great smackdown invoking what generals say
In testimony before Congress, the former head of the California Army National Guard, retired U.S. Army Major Gen. Paul Monroe, said that "80 percent of children who were overweight between the ages of 10 to 15 were obese by age 25."

He and other military leaders want Congress to enact a massive child nutrition bill to remove all junk food and high-calorie beverages from schools, improve nutrition standards in schools, upgrade school menus and, the group said, "help develop new school-based strategies, based on research, that help parents and children adopt healthier lifelong eating and exercise habits."

Monroe testified: "In 1946, Congress passed the National School Lunch Act as a matter of national security. In the past, retired admirals and generals have stood up to make it clear that America is only as healthy as our nation's children. Childhood obesity is now undermining our national security and we need to start turning it around today."

So, Sarah Palin, are you going to also rip into this decorated American and say that he and 150 other military leaders are dead wrong?

18. A little off topic but has Quitter had a facelift??
I haven't really seen vid of her for awhile (not in the Faux habit!!) but when I saw her on dwts segment it looked like you could bounce a quarter off her mug & her eyebrows were up towards Bozo level. The whole effect was odd.

19. If anyone had doubts about her racism now, I hope this latest tirade lifts the veil on Sarah's hate.
The only consolation in these "attacks" is that Sarah is not clever. One day, she'll let too much slip out about how she views the Obamas in one of her speeches or interviews. Or better yet, Willow will be inspired from her facebook hatefest and really let it all hang out about her animus toward people different from herself. So, keep on talking, Teabagger Queen. Let the world know your true feelings.

Let that lead to your downfall.

- Mark Levin I think it was and they had this story and the comments agree with her criticism. They were both depressing and disgusting. I didn't know people like that existed in this day and age.

I don't get it. Really, the attitude of MOST people when you talk to them about diet just astounds me. If you suggest they give up their fast food or fried foods and suggest that maybe some food isn't as good for them as they'd like to believe, they act as though you've asked them to have an abortion while taking their guns away as you marry a gay couple in their home.
