I hope that Palin doesn't get the 2012 GOP nomination.
Yes, she would be easy pickings for President Obama. But if she were the GOP presidential candidate that would allow another big opportunity for her to spew her hate around the country. And then there is always the horrific possibility that for some reason she could actually win. Who knows, maybe they will come up with a way to steal the election again. Palin in the White House is my worst nightmare, even though I know that it probably won't happen.

1. That's too big of a chance to take . . .
Some people think a Palin nomination would be a gift from heaven - but it could backfire. That is nothing to play with.

7. Backfire? How? She'd be Angle/O'Donnell nationally and would get destroyed! What are you thinking?

You don't let people get that close to the button - anything can happen on Election Day.

18. I would normally agree with you, but we just got saddled with 39% LePage
With Nader starting to make rumblings of how Obama and the republicans are the same, if he runs, she could squeak through.

21. There would be no viable liberal alternative to Obama. Our vote would be SOLID against Palin. LePUKE
won because the liberal vote got seriously split between Cutler and Mitchell. That wouldn't happen nationally.

And frankly I can't take listening to her. I use my mute button when she's on the screen. But my favorite shows will be discussing what she's saying.

She's just not good for my health.

If it was Palin in the Oval Office my thumb would probably get so badly necrotic it'd have to be amputated.

3. I doubt she'll survive the primary.
I believe that when Babs Bush commented that she wished Palin would stay in Alaska, that the repub PTB agree. Palin is a loose cannon. They won't be able to control her like they did Bush & I think they know that.

11. I agree.
As we speak the right is digging up every piece of dirt they can find in order to make sure she does not win! She has ticked of to many people with a whole lot more "power" than she has. If she tries to run the republicans will tear her apart, and the only thing she could do is run on a third party ticket, which would divide the republicans even more! No, I think those with the money and the power will make sure she never runs. I could be wrong, but time will tell!

28. I agree. The cut throat Republicans will slice her into a dozen grizzly steaks.
It won't be pretty. It's Romney or Huckabee--bank on it. Republicans always nominate their senior man, no matter how big a joke (coughMcCaincough, coughDolecough). Next year won't be any different.

She would go down hard in flames as the fucking idiot that she is, and it would finally wake people up to the reality that the G.O.P. has become the G.O.JOKE.

15. I dunno - when I think how close the Oregon governor's race was . . .
Those Republicans know how to get out the vote, and there are far too many who will vote against a Democrat "just because."

Idiots.

9. Agreed.
Consider that all she has is snide remarks. If she wins the GOP nomination, they'll be forced to stand behind her snottiness...really, as a woman, that's what she is..a snot, anyway they'll be forced to stand behind her childish unpresidential crap for months.

Elections are won in the middle....the middle will tire of her wisecracks real fast.

I'd love a run by her.

13. I feel the same way. Used to think I wanted her to be the candidate, but
I'm too afraid of the possibilities. We came somewhat close in 2008 with her as the VP nom, can never let that happen again. That said, the Boosh family seem to like Romney, and since it's his turn (that's how GOPers operate--was McLame's turn last time), it will probably be Obama v Romney in 2012.

16. On a macro level, Palin is bad for democracy in ANY party...
...but she would be easy to beat. It would be better for the Dems if they picked a moderate and forced Sarah to run as an Indy.

By the way, she's no Ronald Reagan. Not to worry.

what with Bush's book out ...

Palin's run for Prez would cause a worldwide shortage ... I mean, the purchases by the "liberally biased media" alone would eradicate the U.S. supply ...

26. On the contrary, she'd be ruining the Republican "brand"
She is SO ignorant, offensive and incomprehensible, moderates and undecideds would ask if this was REALLY the best the Republican party could do.

I think even the hardcore Repub establishment are realizing this now.

27. Personally, after Babs comments....
I believe her chances of winning even the GOP nomination, just took a slide by about 10 points. Like it or not, the Bushes carry a big stick for the GOP and Momma Babs know what the inside track of the GOP is thinking. Which is in just....if Sarah P. believes that we are going to allow her to be OUR party nominee, we will pull so much junk out of her past, she would be running back to Alaska.

Remember, this family managed to steal an election from Al Gore. Never underestimate the power of the Bushes in the GOP and especially, Babs. She is a a mafia princess, dressed up in the finest, with original pearls and white hair....but when she speaks....her minions listen.

35. I think you are underestimating the power of the Tea Party movement.
They beat several establishment candidates already as you know. Who is to say that they couldn't do the same thing on the national level and impose Palin on the GOP whether the party establishment likes it or not?

31. Sarah or Jeb?
Those are the choices. I think we can beat Sarah. Jeb would be a lock, only because they would kill Obama if they thought it was neccessary. Romney was the Bush's choice in 2008. I don't think they'll back him again.

32. She has a chance at the nomination
Earlier in the year I thought no way, but the Tea Party can really be a big influence in primaries. However, I also suspect that they might not vote as a bloc with so many high-profile Republicans to choose from. Their lack of unity and discipline will probably show. But if she can capture a good share of the Tea Party vote, she does have a chance.

In the general though, she would have a very difficult time. She would need a lot of help and luck to be a contender. She would have to run a near-perfect campaign and would also need help from the Obama side in the form of a scandal or disastrous policy decision. The chances of everything coming together for her like that are pretty low I think.
