and his team may have spent too much time studying the Clinton administration's signature win and loss. The win, of course, was the economy and this may have led to the misplaced trust in Summers and other gurus of the Clinton economy. The loss, of course, was health care and Hillary and Bill's failed attempt to lay out a game plan that they insisted the Congress follow in all major aspects. The result was a tepid recovery plan and a misguided emphasis on the perils of the deficit and a health care plan which suffered grievous wounds from a thousand cuts inflicted by obstructionist Republicans, cowardly blue dogs and a Senate paralyzed by its own rules. I am an ardent supporter of President Obama. I believe that he has the stuff to be a great president. I hope and pray that he moves beyond what was a primarily centrist approach to governance and recontacts his inner Saul Alinsky and Chicago political persona. The road to reelection is not through emphasis on debt reduction and bipartisanship. Obama can best regain his momentum through strong advocacy of Liberal policies demonstrate unequivocally that he is on the side of the poor and the middle class.
