my teabagger sister is running away from Palin

My sister was a dittohead for more than a decade. Last year she stopped listening to Rush. Then she was a teabagger. The last two months she has been running away from Palin.

Tonight she told me that she is becoming less and less conservative. She still adores the Bush family (who are not really conservatives).

She said that when Palin's TV show started she decided to give Sarah a second chance, but that she saw that Palin is really an idiot, out for money.

So maybe Palin's star has driven some people away from teabaggery and toward true conservatism.

We avoid politics like the plague in conversation. I think she began to see that it is pretty low-brow to be a teabagger, and she is a bit of a snob. She wouldn't want to be thought of as un-classy.

2. It's about time they realize that these conservatives are only in it for the money. I think we've

finally reached a saturation point with these republicans in the media. They run radio, faux news, and I think palin's show is a bridge too far for most people and the same thing goes for bristol on dancing with the stars. There's limits to what they can do. How often can they claim media bias when they're now on every channel including TLC(even though there's nothing education about palin or her show).

and my dad always refers to Nixon as, "That poor man."

(My SIL in question was actively involved for maybe a decade in setting up businesses in India to take jobs from the US.)

5. My friend liked Palin until the reality show

He finally realized that she is a terrible person. I wish he had realized it earlier but I'm glad she has one less republican on her side. He is a really nice guy but he is a very religious career marine from a conservative family. Our democratic friends and I are working on him. I don't see him becoming a liberal but there may be hope for him.

...wants to fix me up with her Dad, knows it's not going to happen because he's as strong of a republican as I am a democrat. Thanksgiving she tried again. Her arguement "He hates ALL the republicans right now."

10. Chris Christie, in his own way, is worse

He is completely authoritarian and now expects the towns and the Democratic legislature to do his every command. He is arrogant and unwilling to admit mistakes. (ie he recently pre-emptively attacked Lautenberg for not supporting his new plan to extend the seventh ave subway for which he expects to get the federal money that the rail tunnel project, he abruptly canceled was to get. This, even though there has been few better advocates for mass transportation than Lautenberg in Congress - and it is completely clear that he saw that his tunnel decision has not been popular.)

I do suspect that many disaffected with Palin would consider him. The only real reason I think it might be unlikely - is that Palin people might be those choosing personality or looks - and Christie is not good in either. He has an abrasiveness that stands out even in NJ! But, the media created a "nice guy" Bush, where nothing in his past suggests that was accurate.

12. You have a good point

The closest I came to voting for a Republican for President was Anderson in 1980. I didn't because I saw it woul be a vote for Reagan. Now, had Anderson been the Republican candidate - not running as an Independent, I likely would have voted for him. He actually was the "liberal" in the race.

There were others I might have voted for had they become the nominee against a conservative Democrat. I would have likely strongly considered John Heinz, who often was mentioned as a potential candidate, had live been different and he were alive and the nominee in 1992 or 1996. He was extremely good on the environment, and did a huge amount of work on things like cleaning up the savings and loan mess and pensions and other things that helped the middle class. (At that point, I knew nothing of his wife, other than she was beautiful and was suppose to be brilliant.)

13. I was happy to find out over Thanksgiving that my sister in law and her boyfriend

are anti-Palin as well. I was worried for the longest time.
