Although he has represented New Jersey for five years in the U.S. Senate, many Garden State voters are not sure what they think about Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez, according to a Fairleigh Dickinson University PublicMind poll released this morning.
Thirty-one percent of state residents have a favorable opinion of Menendez, while 25 percent are unfavorable. But 29 percent are unsure and 15 percent have not heard of him.
“Those are fairly anemic numbers for an energetic guy who has already served
five years,” said poll director Peter Woolley.
New Jersey’s senior senator is more well-known. Frank Lautenberg, a Democrat who has served much longer, is rated favorably by 47 percent and unfavorably by 31 percent. Twenty-one percent are unsure, and only 6 percent have not heard of him.
