WOW -Dems just totally lost me today
I really don't see any reason to support them if they are so weak they will allow themselves to be dominated by one man who isn't even a member of their party.

WOW. There aren't even words. maybe PATHETIC FAILURE. I think that is a good word.

WOW Dem Leaders, the Conservative caricature of you was right: You are weak, gutless, spineless, incapable. Why should we expect anything useful out of you? -and if that's the case why should we vote for you?

we can kiss 2010 goodbye and at this point I really don't see any reason to be bummed to lose these worthless cowards. We're gonna get fucked by the corporations no matter which party is in control. The sooner people can get that into their heads, the sooner we can get around to the kind of class warfare this country needs, the one where to working stiffs start actually fighting back, not just voting and sitting around waiting for the politicians to do something.

23. How is it Obama's fail?
LIEberman is in the senate. Obama (and any other president) can't just go in there and kick people out, or make them do what he wants.

If it's anybody's fail, it's the senate's for not stripping LIEberman of any and all extra powers he may have.

26. No, it's the people of Connecticut's fail
They elected him. If Lieberman was stripped of his power and position, what difference would it make? We'd still need his vote right now and if he were caucusing with the Republicans we probably wouldn't have had him for anything else we've needed 60 votes for.
It sucks that so much power resides in such a douche, but that's the way the senate works.

Where are the people of Connecticut who foisted this mess upon us? Connecticut of all places should be electing liberals and progressives! You expect a blue dog from Nebraska but not Ct.

76. The Democrats in CT chose Ned Lamont....
Something that CT bashers seem to forget.

Lieberman was able to win because of a loophole that allowed him to still be able to run after he lost the primary. Just like he double dipped in the 2000 election he did in his last Senate election. Most Democrats voted for Lamont. Lieberman won mostly with Republican and Indy support.

Also the Republican candidate was abandoned by the GOP and they supported Lieberman. And the elected Democrats including Dodd only gave lukewarm support to Lamont. Dodd did do an ad for him but very late in the campaign. I think that had the local Democrats gotten behind Lamont and demonstrated strong support, campaigned with him, etc. it would have made the difference. But instead they pretty much left him on his own.

After Lieberman lost the primary and ran as an Indy, Barbara Boxer came to CT and campaigned for him. She was questioned by some reporters as to why she did not support the Democratic candidate but she just acted annoyed and brushed them off when they questioned her.

Maxine Waters also came to CT but she campaigned for Lamont. One of the few prominent Democrats who did. Bless her.

40. That's bullshit. LIEberman is the dem's EXCUSE for selling out to the corporations.
The cabal that runs this country has known pretty much from the start how this would fall out. In fact, they've carefully engineered it, by controlling the voting machines and the media.

Did anybody....ANYBODY????.... really think that already-purchased legislators were going to give the PEOPLE anything in regard to health business (it certainly isn't health CARE, because they DON'T "care" ... in fact, they don't give a damn at all. It's the health BUSINESS) ? Not for a minute. Not from the beginning, and certainly not in the end.

Lieberman is a snake, and he always has been. That's why he's there, in the first place. The PEOPLE of Connecticut spoke when the Dems voted him out in the primary. You know, they way the two party system is SUPPOSED to work. But the power structure made sure he won, anyway, because they needed this little snake to do their bidding. And he does.

Lieberman, and all the members of congress, are doing what they are PAID to do... and paid well, by the corporations. They are not paid to do the people's business.

I'm not some recent youngster who showed up because Obama seemed cool.

I've been paying attention for a long time, been voting since I was of age, I'm 29 now.

I'm a dyed in the wool Dem. Never voted any other party than that in my entire life, because I thought they were on the side of the working stiff. Man I feel stupid now after watching this.

People need to wake up, it's all bullshit, ALL OF IT. ALL OF IT.

the corporations run everything. The Dems just do a little bit better job of pretending they aren't sock puppets for the rich.

From and key DLC aides supported -- and also worked on -- Lieberman's independent Senate bid, after Ned Lamont bested him in last year's Democratic primary. Lieberman went on to defeat Lamont and Republican Alan Schlesinger in the general election.

5. I think we need to get our asses in gear with some public outcry......
I think that is what is needed in order to get what we want out of conference.

Public Pressure is the only thing that is going to get us what we want.

It doesn't matter so much what comes out of the Senate Bill going into conference,
but what we do need is cloture and then a vote on the bill.....
what matters is what comes out of conference...than I believe we need 51 votes from the senate,
and we have that.

Sausage being made.

So, I suggest we get busy protesting this shit coming through now, cause it ain't never too late
to show the power that we the people have.

I believe the President is banking on us getting this over the finish line.

That's what I think...so I'm not quitting, cause it ain't over.

I know you are right and that it aint over. I don't want to give up.

But Dem leaders need to understand how incredibly let down we all feel right now.

I feel betrayed. I feel like I went into a street fight to back up a buddy and that buddy just ran away and let me get my ass beat.

As things stand now with this bill- it's just totally unacceptable, totally unacceptable and I was preparing myself for some disappointment on this.

After all the fighting that this country has gone through over this, to come out with a weak bill that will do more harm than good is just pathetic.

I think it's obvious now that Lieberman isn't going to vote for anything unless it's a total boon to the corps.

If Obama signs some piece of shit just to put a Win in his column, I'm gonna lose faith in him.

not by giving in, but by gearing up.

I'm serious.

We.are.not.in.conference.yet.

And that is where we need to get to...
and the only way that happens is to get the 60 vote for cloture.

Those are the reality...and it wouldn't matter if Obama came out with boxing gloves on,
because till we get the 60 to get passed that bullshit, we can't get nowhwere.
Why do you think Whitehouse and others are keeping their cool!

I'm telling you....we need to be mad as all get out,
but we need to channel that anger into constructive action;
cause at the end of the day, this bill is more for us than it is for anyone.

I have been giving these guys a lot of doubt, but today was simply a total failure. There is no reason for Democrats to pass and own this "reform" that will do nothing to control costs. It is politics. There is always compromise. 100 Senators are not going to just sit there and do what they are told, even Democrats. It is the system and the combination of people elected. You are talking about it as if it is some sort of male domination ritual.

56. The problem with the threatening of the Chairmanship is Joe knows there is always more legislation
Edited on Tue Dec-15-09 12:34 PM by NJmaverick
that will come along. You pull his chairmanship and then he is free to caucus with the GOP. Short of getting a moderate like Snowe to come over to our side (in exchange for a chairmanship slot opened up by Joe's ouster), the threat is a hallow one and Joe knows it.

57. Just do it. Kick him to the curb, let him caucus with the repukes.
Force filibusters, and give the Snowe's what they need for their pet projects. Take Lieberdouche's power. Castrate him and any other flea-ridden Blue Mutt who stand in the way. Blow the Senate up, they aren't being effective now, anyway. I want to see leadership and backbone.

Remember Joe Lieberman was Obama’s Mentor in the Senate

By: fflambeau Monday December 14, 2009 10:05 pm

Those who are up in arms over Sen. Joe Lieberman’s "veto" of the extension of Medicare should remember this. When Sen. Barack Obama arrived in Washington, D.C. in 2005, he selected as his mentor none other than: Joe Lieberman.

Here’s David Sirota writing about this, after discussing Obama’s stab in the back of the progressive Lamont in Connecticut and his stab in the back of the progressive Christine Cegelis (Obama backed Duckworth) way back in 2006:

snip:

Other sources, including the Hartford Courant, reported that Obama chose Lieberman as his mentor.]

both mostly in the party of Goldman Sachs. Republicans are upfront A holes that let you know they don't give a fvck about you, and the Democrats pretend to care. Most of them serve the most wealthy 1-10% regardless of party label.

I support the Democrats because they have far fewer racists, sexists and homophobes.

63. I feel the same way. The party is really taking its base for granted.
Makes me sick.

77. And they will continue
taking their base for granted, as long as Republicans are the only other option. They know that in the end nearly every dem votes Dem, because "the alternative is much worse".

It's not worse, actually. It only has a dumber face.

Part of the solution, or part of the problem?

73. The OP killed real health care reform?
Okay, if you say so.

So, how do you suggest we triumph over the evil in the Democratic Party that from the beginning of this health care debate, excluded the wishes of the people and catered to the Pharmaceutical and Private Insurance Industries?

74. Plan on telling that to the rest of the 40% of Dems who will sit out 2010?
You have to give people something to vote for if you actually want their votes.

75. To those who say that we NEED Lieberman...
BS. He would not vote our way in any case. That is like cheering the election of Blue Dogs to replace a Repugnant. Yea, we got a Dem to replace a Pug. Yeah, we did but the Blue Dog votes for the other team.

We need to excommunicate them all at the ballot box...should have been doing that for the past 16 years.

"We need them"

BS!
