7. Ha! I didn't hear her call out the name, but I heard the vote! I thought WHO?
Too funny that he voted for himself! Is he Dem or Rep?

And with all due respect, and I mean that sincerely, why is Pelosi sitting there smiling and looking as though she thinks she has a chance to "win"? Almost perky. I'm glad she's staying on and didn't do the "traditional" resignation. I'm so sorry we're losing her as Speaker.

4. Totally symbolic vote, given Pelosi has no chance of being Speaker
She will, however, be minority leader. So, I'm not sure why this would be such a big deal.

9. That wasn't my question... I'm asking why it bothers some...
that a few Dems are putting forth someone other than Pelosi in a totally symbolic vote where she is not even a consideration, given it is pre-ordained to be a RETHUG.

At no time did I question the need for the vote. Your OP stated concern about Dems not voting for Pelosi. I asked why that matters.

11. It matters because she is a Democrat as well as the minority leader.

The Republicans vote in lockstep. There are too many Democrats who are truly DINO's--the Blue Dogs, in particular. They lose over half their numbers, but when you vote with the Republicans you might as well be a Republican. It is also very unusual.
