I suppose it would be instructive to know what percentage of white voters disapproved of him for a useful comparison.

6. Are you watching MSNBC with Ron Brownstein talking about the midterm exit polls?
WTH are they doing talking about the past midterms? They know that teabaggers came out in full force, so of COURSE the exit polls showed what they showed. This is BS reporting trying to bring Obama down. This is Jan. '11, not Nov. '10.

Of COURSE the white people who showed up to vote didn't approve of Obama-they were a majority of teabaggers.

24. JenMito, having been a poll watcher during 2008 and 2010, I know you're correct
Iobserved the differences in which groups were at various polling places.

The 2008 polling places were all but mobbed by younger and ethnic voters during the advance voting and on Tuesday.

Forward to 2010: I didn't see the younger people or the ethnic voters. Mainly white people over 50. Not to disparage that group. but they are more likely to be the Limbaugh listeners who also watch Fox News. Some are indeed teabaggers, sad to say. ;(

The younger and ethnic voters voters who'd put Obama way over the top didn't show up in 2010. The post election studies confirmed the observations of poll watchers.

IF health care reform had been passed in a form which benefited working people they would have shown up to defend a perceived gain.

except for the line about healthcare, since IT, along with things Obama passed to help students pay for college, WAS good for those voters who didn't come out in '10. But they had the nerve to compare '08 with '10 as if it's apples to apples. They just did it to make Obama look weak.

You hit the nail on it's head.

The HCR bill is as corporatist as it can get.

For profit private insurers (FPPI) get a gift of millions of additional paying
customers with mandates.

There is not a single restraint on premium hikes by FPPI in the bill.

The HCR bill prohibits drug importation!

No competition to FPPI from PUBLIC OPTION to keep rate hikes under control.

Competition to FPPI from across the state lines by other FPPI's is prohibited.
So each state has it's FPPI's operating as monopolies without outside competition.

These are just facts, and all items favor private corporations.

7. How many of those "White Voters" are republican?
That could take care of a certain percentage of the 65%. But there are definitely people who don't like him because of his race. Was that a poll somewhere?

8. Where are you getting this from?
Assuming that's true, since the Civil-rights-era southern realignment, as well as the skillful use of the "Southern Strategy" by the Republicans, I don't believe that a DEMOCRATIC POTUS has won and/or received a majority of support from white voters. Carter, Clinton, Gore, Obama, won with a majority of the non-white minority voters, women, etc. The fact that President Obama is Democrat, African-American, has the middle name of "Hussein", is like a "trifecta" of reasons for white voters to dislike him.

13. I have serious issues with the President
I yell at him on the TV, mutter at him when I read the paper, complain about him to my wife and kids and write emails and letters to the White House...but if a pollster calls me, I'm 100% on board with President Obama. When given the choice of "Approve" or "Disapprove", you need to consider that your disapproval is seen by many as the tacit approval of the alternative. Many undecided and/or low-information voters make their decisions based on the most recent polls (or at least it seems that way to me).

Polls are often rigged to get a desired result. Even gallup polls often sound like 'push polling' to my ears.

So, as you wrote, I'm going to say I approve or click on 'approve' regarding the Ppresident.

15. So...are you starting to feel a little nervous?
Generally, words like bigots and rednecks emerge after polls like that one.

I'm thinking we should stop taking these polls. People can disapprove of him without attaching a racial motive to it. It's just all too vague. Me personally, I think he's doing pretty well. But, that's darn sure not because I'm a black voter. He's bound to tick me off next week. Or when he picks up that meh, meh later during immigration talks about jobs Americans won't do...or education...

Why give the real bigots any additional ammunition?

25. Vinnie, I believe you are right.
Sometimes when driving around I turn on Limbaugh to check out what he's saying. And until I couldn't stand it any more (this late winter) I was occasionally watching Fox news to check what they are up to. I caught all the worst of the Glenn Beck Neo-Nazi Comedy Hour. More fear mongering, lies and misinformation I never heard in my life.

Limbaugh and Hannity are largely the purveyors of subliminal race hatred. Possibly even more than Beck.

Tea Party people are against Obama. What a surprise!! Democratic voters who did not show up are not counted in this poll.

What is scary is the bias in our media presenting numbers that are fairly meaningless? It seems that it would be more useful to understand why white democratic voters did not show up and vote?

If 65% of whites hate him and whites are 65% of the population...
.65 x .65 = 42% of the population hates him.

With lots of free corporate media airtime. For more than a year. I think older people (who vote in large numbers) are particularly susceptible to the fear mongering especially if they socialize with Faux News zombies.

Today it's the black guy from Kenya. Tomorrow it will be all the illegal Mexicans taking all the jobs and getting free health care and schooling. The next day it will be Muslims building a "conquest mosque" at Ground Zero. Blame the Democrats. Rinse and repeat.
