No matter where your confidence level was, concerning re-election in 2012, it had to soar through the roof after listening to him tonight.

When it comes to speaking, inspiring, and making people feel good, there is really no one else quite like him in this day and age.

10. It's one way to view his speaches, as art.

He did graduate Suma Cum Laude and to have that kind of intellect, people who write for a living to help and a real comittment to do his part to help heal the country is a great formula to produce a speach that will go down in history with the great ones.

Part of what gets to me is that in a situation like this Obama gets really clear on what is most important and he puts everything into presenting that case to us all. I think he still believes that he is everyone's President, not just those who voted for him.

It pisses me off at times and I think it causes him to make some dumb ass decisions, but I respect the internal integrity that he has in trying over and over again to be the adult in the situation with a house full of screaming brat congress critters. Don't keep sweeping up the mud as they tromp over your clean floor again and again, throw them outside until they can learn to clean up their act and get to business at hand would have been my preference when we had the majorities in both House and Senate, but that isn't the way it happened.

So I deal and whenever I hear him speak I am so glad GW isn't flapping his jaw and so glad that Sara P is doing her bit on the sidelines making a freak show out of herself instead of in a place of legitimate political power.

While most of Obama's supporters here, like me, can and have pointed to areas upon which they wish he would improve (which is indicative of anything BUT idolatry), their detractors, like the person who made the idolatry comment, never give him credit for ANYTHING. THAT is negative idolatry.

Maybe even one person? Share with us who you think could deliver such a wonderful speech better than Obama? And it's not like this was the first time he's inspired us like this. He's done it plenty of times in the past, and he'll continue to do so in the future.

When I made my comparison in the OP, I said "in this day and age", and I stand by what I said. I don't think it's an exaggeration at all, nor would I consider it to be "hero-worship" and "infantile." It's simply admiration. It's admiration for the way he can inspire, deliver a message, and make us feel good when he speaks. I don't know of anyone who does it better. Thank goodness for this because his artistry as an orator gives us a nice little advantage going into the general election. IMO, Barack Obama is the best orator of his time.

Brilliant analogy! Why? Because Obama has the ability to parse his words and then reassemble them so that they imply whatever the listener is predisposed to hear depending on their own personal experience. Very similar to cubism in my opinion. He speaks the truth; it just depends on your viewpoint as to which piece of the truth he speaks.
