Many of my Republican co-workers are angry about Obama's speech
They said Obama made it seem like Gabby Giffords opened her eyes because he was there. They said he was trying to take credit for the medical miracle. :eyes:

I thought he made it clear that she opened her eyes after he left?

Whatevers. These people are grasping at straws, angry that Obama was very Presidential and above the fray. They desperately want him to be dragged int the mud along with Palin.

6. The real reason your Republican friends are angry about Obama's speech
is because they and their Republican mouthpieces have been struggling to find a way to criticize the speech and are coming up empty handed. They are totally stumped!

10. He made it perfectly clear that she opened her eyes when she was with some of her Congressional
friends.

It was the first time she opened her eyes on her own. The Doctors said while testing her reactions to stimuli, they got her eyes to open in response to stimuli. That is not the same as her opening them under her own control. The Doctors said there is a significant difference. Jackasses are acting like jackasses. Rush & Co are feeding their normal garbage to their minions getting them in their normal agitated state. People like him aren't going to change the vitriol they shoot into the body politic on a daily basis. It is sad really.

It turned out that she was with three Democratic women Members. But the President referred only to her Congressional colleagues.

35. How DARE a Native American give an invocation...in Arizona!!

The Freepers own True Christianity(TM)(SM) and NO OTHER religion is allowed to be displayed at any political function.

All good Americans are supposed to be Protestant, even if they are not White Anglo-Saxon Protestants! No Idol-Worshipping Papists either!

I thought the Native American man's invocation was very cool. And he mentioned "Mother Earth"!!! That's a sin too! No female goddesses allowed, only an all male trinity.

Reminds me of the time Harry Reid invited a Hindu Priest from Nevada to give the invocation in the Senate and some Christians in the peanut gallery yelled and screamed and raised hell and drowned him out. I assume they were immediately removed for being disruptive.

The stupid, it burns.

40. "Christian" blasphemy is sold by Church/SaintCo. They have become so habituated to it that,
like a fan running in a room, they no longer notice it though their blaspheming is there nonetheless, all pervasive, and destroying their perception of truth, which falsehoods, blasphemers that they are, they then inflict upon the rest of us.

It just goes to show how little there was in what he said and the way he said it to seriously criticize.

29. I knew some would freak at that. It is one of those inclusive things he does that just pisses them
off.

It just reminds them that things are changing, tolerance and inclusiveness are increasing and expanding, along with civil rights.

I love that he does that.

He also does it when he mentions non-believers when reciting a list of the various religions. They hate that too. :)

On some level, it is one of the basic differences between Democrats and Republicans.

The bottom line is we were all hopeful that having a black man president would be great for the country. Unfortunately, it blew up the country along racial lines. All the hate is because a black man is president.

These people are assholes. But you should have made the effort to set them straight. I realize they are frustrating. But the thing is....we can't let them continue controlling the narrative. Even if they hold no real power. We need to take control of the narrative and make sure that even if they continue thinking whatever it was they believed---they'd also be aware that in the back of their mind their wrong and you told them so. They need to wake up and I'm tired of being too tired o fight back a bit.

He stated clearly that after he left, she opened her eyes.

He also said that her husband gave him permission to share the news.

They're just bitter that they have such zeros representing their party while Dems set the leading examples of maturity and character.

37. What is the matter with some people? Seriously...
Here's a woman that took a bullet wound to the head, suffering terribly and perhaps permanently damaged to who knows what extent, yet shows a sign that things are getting better...and someone has to make a political cowpie out of?

Every human being with even a smidgen of a soul should be celebrating this individual, or any other that comes back from the brink of death, with relief and gratitude for the human spirit.

I worked for years in a hospital South of Seattle, and with each "victory" as a patient recovered, it was a time for relief at the least, celebration at the best. I worked w/a pt w/Guillian-Barre syndrome, he was terrified he would be paralyzed for life. The first time I worked with this man, (his wife was in the room at the time), I told him I was going to walk him out the door. I am not a physician, my job was to help where I could and do what I could to ease the suffering of those that I came in contact with; I'm certainly no one special. After 3.5 months, I was informed one day that this pt would be discharged the following day, and I was determined to keep my end of the bargain, we had fought this together, and I drove the 40 miles in on my day off to do so. I wheeled this individual to the front door, helped him up and into his car, we shook hands and off he went...the warmth we had was felt by everyone we came in contact with that day.

My point is that he, his wife and I celebrated a "victory". Through the months of good and bad, we fought through this and every step of the way, we celebrated the small things, the good things, and we fought against the bad things. The same thing goes for what we see today with Congresswoman Giffords, and the others that are recovering...it is not their position in life, but the life itself that we find celebration in. The steps of progress show each and every one of us that we can make progress, we can overcome, and that is always a reason for celebration.

I'm not arguing with them, I think that most people are seeing through them this time around. The more the Right tries to spin against President Obama, Democrats and Liberals in regard to this incident, the worse they make themselves look.
