for all of the bigotry we accuse the right of having, we're often guilty of it ourselves. One of the most progressive heroes of American history was a Baptist minister, yet we openly mock Christianity as if it's some kind of witchcraft (of course if someone was a Wiccan, we'd praise their Independence.)

Almost all conservatives are Christian but not ALL Christians are conservatives and Christ's own teachings of helping "the least of these" is one of the fundamental tenants of our party.

Yet we have ceded Christianity to the right and we've done so to our own detriment..

The event honoring the victims of the Tucson shooting involved religion. There was even a Native American blessing.

19. And obviously the WH has made sure the press KNEW about this church visit...

.... including bringing the official WH photographer along with him to take a picture for all of us to see.

While the point he often makes that a Presidential visit to church is a disruption is valid, I'd like him get to the point where he attended worship so often (whether in a public venue or in a more private setting at the WH) that it ceased to be "news."

And I exhort him not as a citizen, but as a Christian. He makes no bones about his faith and encouraging one another to NOT miss the worship service is what we're supposed to do. ;)

He's lukewarm on gay marriage and his religion has something to do with that.

and does not impact his politics. The President would not stand in the way of legalizing gay marriage, and his actions have demonstrated that.

The thing that's most interesting is the person being honored today is the Reverend Martin Luther King. I don't think anyone opposes what he stood for because he was a man of religion.

"Wouldn't stand in the way." How about advocating and fighting for it?

Candidate Obama - "I believe marriage is between a man and a woman,” shortly after being asked if he opposed same-sex marriage, to which he responded, “Yes.”

If he's flatly stated he fully and enthusiastically supports it, I would happily stand corrected. And if his hesitation isn't based on religion, than what is it?

Obama has said he supports civil unions for gays but thinks marriage is for straight couples. But he also has said his thinking on the issue is "evolving" and "it's pretty clear where the trendlines are going."
