What the American public will lose when healthcare is repealed
Edited on Thu Jan-20-11 08:51 PM by Rosa Luxemburg
Can anyone help me make a concise list of the impact of repealing health reform. Many people are actually losing out on benefits because of the Republicans.

It would appear that the GOP have just added over $200 billion to the deficit.

just a few examples:

how are we going to get single payer now?

12. really? it's been on tv, family members of 1 guy who had his transplant
operation stopped because of MONEY, when a donor had specifically donated an organ/part of an organ for HIM. AZ death panels are getting national media coverage. Spread the word around, if you want to help awareness of the Righties' hypocrisy.

5. Life is a pre-existing condition.

Sorry the hyperbole, but what we'll see, if not continue to see, is nickel-and-diming based on pre-existing conditions.

Life in modern society has its basic risks, and the cost of those risks should be socialized, IMO. Beyond that, I could see spending some money promoting healthy agriculture and lifestyles as a way to reduce long-term shared risks. Frankly, it's kind of the same argument as environmental pollution, be it CO2 emissions or chemical waste.

BullyFDRpulpitJFKarmLBJtwistingHSTprimaryBigDogchallenges, of course.

All Obama has to do is want it bad enough, just like the public option

Of course, he has to want it a little badder enough-er because of the mid-term election results, but hey, it's still all up to him, isn't it?

I thought we wanted to Kill the Bill.

8. You get single payer by including the uninsured 40 million and the chronically ill 133 million that

the private insurance industry won't cover. They can't
complain about the government insuring people they are
not interested in.

Do the math with Medicaid and veterans added to the uninsured
that would be half the country. The half that the insurance
industry has abandoned and the half that will vote Democrat
to get the same health care as the rest of the G10 countries.

10. You're forgetting the other half...
...the half that would volunteer to live with their family in a cardboard box under a railroad bridge, and toast sparrows on an old curtain rod over an open fire, provided you guarantee them that the people in the next box over -- black, gay, foreign, liberal, different -- don't even get the sparrow.

That's America. The half of America that actually votes.

11. It's not going to be.
I will register as a Republican before the health care law is repealed--that's how confident I am that it's not going anywhere.
