I wish i was better at language. I can do English, but anything else is a struggle. Someday, I'd love to learn Spanish. We have a growing Hispanic population in Baltimore and it would be nice to interact directly with the ones that don't speak English.

I think the POTUS and FLOTUS are great parents and if they have their children learning Mandarin (even if only a small amount), they're already a step ahead of the pack. If my children were still in school, I would encourage them to learn Mandarin as well. Any extra language is a good thing. My SIL, who lives in Athens, Greece speaks 4 fluently and is not an anomaly in her community.
