5. To be followed by pages and pages of ...
"But he didn't talk about pretty, pretty unicorns that fart rainbow dust."

8. He stayed on our side
But gave the republicans enough rope (issues where they could in theory work together) to see what they will do with it.

He also worked to exploit several fissures in the opposition that lie between reasonable reform and TEA party orthodoxy. If some are willing to work on common goals, it should set up an argument on the right.

If they solve the pending fracture by agreeing to simply obstruct everything, they will be damaged at the polls in 2012. If some agree to the bipartisan dance, the TEA party types will be very upset and primary challenges to sitting republicans will be the theme of 2012. It is a win-win.

Either they agree to work with the President on popular and common sense things and face an internal revolt, or they obstruct and lose support. President Obama sees the corner they are painted in, and will use it.

9. "Most liberal ever..."
I don't know who gets that honor, but my mom is also 72, was a hippie, and has always been strongly liberal. She was not happy with the speech, and she is not happy with Obama.
