1. Yeah but...
have you seen the Quinnipiac poll?

This week we and all mainstream news sources are only to speak of the magic Quinnipiac poll, all others are outliers unless they match the magic Quinnipiac poll.

the truth is....Obama's approval numbers have been jumpting up and down lately between the low 40 and low 50s....but when you put him up against any of the repub candidates he holds comfortable leads....

3. Chuck Todd showed the Quinnipiac poll (taken before Obama's Libya speech) and called
it an "outlier" and then mentioned the Gallup poll which he said had Obama's numbers "shooting up."

5. At this point in the game polls don't matter. Only your gut does. My gut tells me that we're in
trouble but if we fight we'll win and win big. If we lay down and let the "sensible center" run things we're dead in the water, though.

8. Gut says
need Acorn for Obama but that the Republicans probably will lose the House fast.. might take the senate and Obama may squeak by if Mike Huck were running. But would trounce Sarah or Michelle. Or Donald....

14. It does matter in that the President's popularity affects his ability to influence Congress
If his approval numbers are low, legislators are less likely to fear him.

9. Strictly politically speaking, his numbers should have gone up.
Edited on Thu Mar-31-11 12:32 AM by Skip Intro

There is, politically, supposed to be some degree of "rally around the president" when we take military action. There is an expected bump in the polls whenever a president takes a military action. This has always happened.

I hope appealing to those on the right wasn't a consideration in Obama's decision to move against Libya. I'm sure it wasn't. I mean I hope it really wasn't. I hope there were better reasons. But if it were it backfired. He'll never win over repubs.

And now I fear he has lost a significant portion of his supporters.

I just hope he did it for the right reasons.

12. Hopefully, not anymore
Can the people finally be getting tired of unjust military action? With two other wars, I'm hoping yes.

23. Considering this President cannot do anything RIGHT!
it could be that even military action is frowned upon by the Repugnant sorry republicans.

You certainly went out of your way to show it.

Enter thread. Read it. Google search for appropriate photo that signifies your 'meh' attitude. Copy and paste URL into message. Post.

Certainly looks like you're more than 'meh' on this one. Maybe angry that he isn't as unpopular as you'd have hoped?

Definitely not meh, though.

18. My Meh is an indictment of people who attribute way too much importance to popularity polls
As if being liked was a proper priority of a President of the United States.

24. Which is the chicken and which is the egg?
Popularity blows in the wind. The only polls that really matter are elections.

15. That's very good!
Sometimes reading here, and listening to people "hatin' on Obama" in my generally RW town, I get a much more skewed impression.
