5. Obama occupies a place slightly to the left of the political Center.
...and I would call him a centrist.

7. Not scoffing, thinking and... agreeing.
That being said that is not at all what I voted for. If he ends up having a full reign of office as a Nixon Republican in terms of foreign policy I will be f*cking livid.

9. Actually, Nixon's Health Care Reform Proposal Was Way To The Left Of Obama's
Edited on Thu Dec-17-09 12:05 AM by MannyGoldstein
I was reluctant to write that because I'm tired of being called an asshole, which is what happens when I make comparisons that drive people nuts.

11. It is true what you say.
Nixon also tried to consolidate the different departments of government, but the Congress objected because it would have meant a reduction in the number of committees and sub-committees.

Obama's health care reform proposal is to the Left of the one your avatar hero offered in 2004. You know, the one who's lecturing us all now.

17. One Step At A Time: So You Disagree That Nixon's Plan Was to the Left of Obama's?
Edited on Thu Dec-17-09 12:21 AM by MannyGoldstein
Night-night. I'll look for your response in the AM.

And then then I can point out how you're wrong about Dean's plan (which wasn't great, but it was way better than the current mess).

23. He didn't leave the party, the party left him.
Which, if he doesn't start rethinking his approach, may happen to the current Prez.

20. The issue with Obama has never been his ideology. By all indication he's fairly liberal.
If he has a problem, it's tactical: he is too personally committed to discussion and compromise rather than action and fighting.

21. Other; He is what used to be called a moderate Republican.
It's really a joke that some people think he's a radical socialist leftist. He's more like Eisenhower than FDR.

He is a huge disappointment to me.

24. I actually think Obama is pretty liberal. Unfortunately...
...I also think he's too afraid to fight for anything. He also doesn't like it when people don't like him. So rather than upset people, he'll take what he can get. Of course, he failed to realize how much this would piss off those who DO like him.

The political spectrum has little to do with either major party.
