Vast array of digital information recovered from bin Laden compound
Vast array of digital information recovered from bin Laden compound

They didn't just kill Osama bin Laden: they also recovered a wealth of digital information from his compound:

The assault force of Navy SEALs snatched a trove of computer drives and disks during their weekend raid on Osama bin Laden’s compound, yielding what a U.S. official called “the mother lode of intelligence.”

The special operations forces grabbed personal computers, thumb drives and electronic equipment during the lightning raid that killed bin Laden, officials told POLITICO.

“They cleaned it out,” one official said. “Can you imagine what’s on Osama bin Laden’s hard drive?”

1. Now let's send the SEALs after his lieutenants...
Those SEALs know how to kick ass without our country engaging in an ugly bombing campaign. They are extremely lethal and efficient. The best of the best.

3. YES THEY ARE! However luck played a part in thisop too.
Everything seemed to have gone right during this op, and I commend them for a job well done, but each of those seals could also tell you of other ops when the luck part just wasn't there.

5. That's true...
There were two big breaks for them that made this one so quick for them. The first is that the helicopter malfunction wasn't serious enough to cause a crash or any injuries. The second is that Bin Laden was extremely arrogant. Only a handful of people in the entire house? Really? We sent 24 SEALs in there and he only had a few guys in there protecting him, none of which were skilled enough to win a gunfight with a SEAL. I wonder what the CIA and SEALs prepared for, 100 guards perhaps? They were probably shocked to see how small Bin Laden's security force was.

2. Alot of pr0n?
Just kidding.

It's a bad time to be in Al Qaeda right now. I bet that intelligence is going to get a lot more of them hit by drone attacks in the middle of the night.

11. We'll see how culpable Pakistan is in this.
Or the US will do it diplomatically out of the public's eye.

8. Very glad to hear this... but the downside is now they know we know.
As long as these reports are rather vague, that's better for us, IMO.
