Perhaps we will finally leave Afghanistan.

2. I truly hope so.

My real hope is that we can "turn the corner" on our military involvement in Afghanistan, Iran, etc and focus of diplomatic engagement that might actually produce a stable, peaceful area free of the kind of repression common now.

Maybe if we don't feel so threatened, we can think more long term and strategically about our interests and how they might best be served.
