If Obama welcoming Bush on this visit gives us just 4 hours of bi-partisanship then its worth it.

While we are partisans, most Americans do not like or appreciate partisanship.

If Obama brings Bush along the critics will praise him, if we find out Bush wanted to join him but Obama wouldn't let him he would be painted as petty.

Obama has nothing to lose in bringing Bush along and everything to gain.

Sometimes we let our hatred of Bush get in the way of what is best for the country.

Political pay back or political disses have no place during Obama's visit to ground zero.

Why would you be surprised by that? OBL was said to be the mastermind behind 9/11. If that is the case, if Osama is to blame for 9/11 and we've been hunting him for 10 or so years. With this guy dead, after Bush dropping the ball. It seems logical that he would go to New York--were almost 3000 people died because of a terrorist attack by OBL and give a bit of something back to the many families who lost loved ones.

It has nothing to do with Bush, it's about the people---and the city. This is a sense of closure for many of us and a sense of relief. I think it's understandable and I see nothing wrong with it.

I also think, that many people will realize, and do realize---by putting one and one that Obama within 2.5 years got OBL. While Bush on the other hand had 7.5 years and got nothing. So Bush being there or not is irrelevant. The praise given to Obama will be the main thing.

Lastly from what I've been hearing. There is no confirmation that Obama is meeting with Bush himself. I'm sure it's likely, but there's no confirmation he's meeting Bush. But he will be meeting with families on Thursday.

I know he too smart to have a 'mission accomplished' banner. But, I thought the tone of his speech the other night was just right. I hope it doesn't feel like a pep-rally or a victory lap.

I also hope that it isn't hyped too much. I recognize and respect the people of New York to feel whatever they feel and express it. I think Obama is smart enough to avoid the pratfalls, but we will see.

But I don't think he's meeting with Bush. No one but a few news reporters have said this. Meaning there's no confirmation on the MSM that Obama is having anything to do with Bush. All they said is that he's going to New York to meet with the families of victims from 9/11. So that gives me a feeling it might be more private than photo-opish and "victory lap". You know. So I understand being leery, because I'm not feeling that either. But I don't think that's the case. If he was meeting with Bush it would be all over the MSM. I mean it would be on MSNBC, Tweety would be talking about. But no one is confirming this on the MSM and it's basically silent. But they do have news he is going to New York on Thursday---just not with Bush. So we'll have to wait and see. But I respect your reservations.
