I will be the first to apologize for saying he had failed to take a principled stand on anything to do with HCR. I will "come around" gladly.

But I'm a cynic and don't think it'll happen. He promised the insurance corpos a free giveaway and by god they're going to get it. THOSE kind of promises, he keeps.

What's laudable about saying basically good things about a piece of proposed legislation and then vetoing it when it hits your desk?

If Obama wants something different, it's his responsibility...as a leader...to make it known now and use reasonable means at his disposal to make it happen. He's not doing that.

9. well, yes, I meant he needs to state the minimum features it has to have

to avoid his veto. And no, he hasn't done that. It would be unlikely that he'd be "supportive" up to the moment of signing and then veto. So he hasn't and won't veto anything, apparently. I guess the whole thing is "acceptable" to him since as usual he's "playing his cards close to his chest" and saying nothing. That's always a good way to duck responsibility.

the repugs have played all their cards, last card being Lieberman, unless I'm mistaken,
they have so far taken everything off the table, single payer, public option, buy in
you name it, everything is gone except mandate which does nothing but benefits the insurance companies.

Maybe he was leading we just didn't see it, leading does not have to be visible.
