I just watched the Chris Matthews show and the a couple of the talking heads said that Obama got a very small bounce (3-5 points) for killing OBL. I know there was one poll that showed that but I thought most polls shoeing a 10-15 point bounce, a big bounce in these days and times. Am I right about this and the panel was just wrong or were they right?

1. His bounce averaged out to 10 points. It's not going to last, and in the long run

the average voter is not going to remember.

I haven't seen a poll that put him by 15 points, but several had a 3-5 point bounce. Polls really depend on timing. The sooner the poll is taken after such an event, the bigger the bounce (positive or negative).

4. If the average was 10 points....

why are the talking heads saying 3-5 points this morning? One poll I saw had him at 60%, which was about a 15 point bounce. I think it was the AP poll?

6. Like I stated before, it depends on what polls there looking at. Several polls have already

seen a slight drop. People aren't out on the streets still cheering. It was a quick bounce that will disappear just as quickly as people look back on the issues that really matter. Until the economy is fixed, Obama is not going to see a lasting bounce.

obstructionism, the economy will never be fixed as long as a dem is president and the repubs have any kind of power or the fillubuster....

2. I believe the polling trends are "locked in" on Obama.

His favorable ratings will continue to fluctuate between 45% and 55% and nothing he does will change things. I have never in my many years seen a president so hated by the opposition and this includes George W, Carter and Nixon.

3. Id say the bounce was somewhere in between. That AP Poll with a 60% approval is not credible

They had a party ID of 46% dem to 29% rep, which is way off.

Gallup shows his bounce is receding as he is at 48-45 as of yesterday.

9. The AP sampling is way off. 46%? Dems only make up roughly a 3rd of the country. Gallup has

party affiliation listed as 29% Dem, 31% Repub and 38% independent.

but they also said 3-5 points but the average was a 10 point bounce....not 3-5 points....as usual, they rely on the polls that look the worst for Obama and cite those polls....
