Newt Gingrich, once considered a "brain Republican" has now all but ended his run for the Presidency.
What if I give you this roasted Newt - Artist Hayao Miyazaki
Newt Gingrich, a man so convinced by the virtues of marriage he has had more wives in his lifetime than the average person has cars has all but ended his Presidential run. He has given himself two choices, get wiped out in the Primaries by what is left of the post rapture rabid Tea Party or get wiped out in the General Election in November 2012. He has given himself no way out.
On May 15, Newt went on Meet the Press and is now crying that he was set up.
Here is the interview.

dog-whistles to Republican racists or his
apologies for his marriages, what has really annoyed Republicans is his
breaking of the Saint Ronnie 11th Commandment. He talked sense about the Ryan plan. Being sensible is not for the modern day Republican Party. Of the Ryan Plan he said, "I don’t think right-wing social engineering is any more desirable than left-wing social engineering", adding "I don’t think imposing radical change from the right or the left is a very good way for a free society to operate."
He then want on to support an individual health insurance mandate, implying those that did not buy insurance were free-loaders using the money to buy second homes.
Fox News and Rush Limbaugh were furious.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDQdraiUj0M&feature=player_embeddedThe Newt attempted to walk it back and promised to worship at the alter of Paul Ryan.
(.mp3 audio interview). He blamed "liberal media" for taking his comments out of context, by repeating them in full.
Krauthammer issued the instruction to GOP News talking heads. The Newt is finished.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vlLZPo1M9dQ&feature=player_embeddedThe only choice for the Newt now is to completely walk back his opposition to the Ryan plan, which forces poor and middle America to pay a subsidy to American billionaires. Doing that would destroy any chance he has in the General Election, or to stay firm, which he is not doing and he destroys any chance he has in the Primaries.
The Republicans want the red meat of dead pensioners and voucher schemes, all Newt is offering is chicken.
