I will be mailing my Obama tee shirt to the White House
Edited on Thu Dec-17-09 04:29 PM by AllexxisF1
My Fiance' and I who have worked so hard here on the Treasure Coast for Obama will be mailing our tee shirts, bumper stickers, campaign items and some pictures back to the White House if the current Senate version of HCR passes.

HCR was the last straw and the first real test of this Administration on whether it was working behalf of the corporations or us. So far it looks as though he failed that test miserably.

From putting Goldman lackeys in his cabinet to purposely killing Pharma amendments to HCR, I have had it.

Maybe its a gesture that probably would not get noticed, but then again if hundreds of people sent back their campaign items, especially personal items like photos to go with it, just maybe he would get the message.

What people in the media and Washington fail to understand is the clock did not reset when Bush left office. Our anger never left and we expected things to get done, NOW.

If this President feels as though his predecessor could get away with the monstrous things he did for 8 years than surely he could pass crap like this Senate bill with no problem.

He is sorely mistaken.

So if this crap of a bill becomes law I will be sending my stuff back and hope you guys do to.

2. This is similar in some ways
to why South Africa did not do that well after 1994.

The White-owned corporations were kowtowed to by Mbkei (a follower of Thatcherism), instead of the people. Zuma has stated that he is going to follow a more 'socialist' path.

Unfortunately, the Black population did not know/understand/communicate the difference between Thatcher "Free Market" philosophy and anything else. And, there is a Free Market Foundation in SA that had a great influence in the beginning. The origins of that foundation was home-grown in SA - something I encountered in social circles and where I first heard the word libertarianism.

3. Unrec. I will NOT do the same. I'm proud of my support for Obama. I didn't vote for Lieberman,
Ben Nelson, or other conservadems. I blame THEM for the HCR bill changes.

6. At this point, you'd have to be willfully blind to not see Obama's agenda.
Why are they attacking Howard Dean and softpedaling idiots like LIEberman? Howard Dean is just speaking his mind. LIEberman is actively trying to kill HCR.

29. Obama doesn't have an agenda. He was happy with the opt-out public option-bill, too...
He wants something to pass. He knows what's possible and what's NOT with this Congress. They're attacking Dean because he's trying to kill all the work that's been done to get to this point so they can "start over in 2 years when they have more Dems. in Congress." :eyes:

5. "We expected things to get done NOW" Name me one politician
who ever met your expectations. You are a demanding one. At least you admit your anger never left, even though you're not using that residual anger in a strange way. But have at it! And go ahead and mail that stuff back. I'm sure your gesture will be duly noted; you'll at least be contributing to the PO.

And we expected not to get roundly FUCKED by our HOPEANDCHANGEANDYESWECAN President. That's not too much to ask, is it?

19. you really think there's not millions of Obama voters who are highly disapproving of him after these
last 3 or 4 months?

He hasn't done a whole lot to make millions believe he's not on the Wall St/Banksters side, and now this ugly HCR bill that he seems so helpless to lead in the right way will only further cement his status as a 1-termer.

I cannot stand the fact that such promise ends up with us getting disgusting and sleezy "President Romney", but don't be too shocked if it happens. Because millions will not vote for Obama or him... A 3rd party candidate will probably rise up.

9. k&r - he asks for feedback, and symbols matter

if I were you, I'd do a video of the process of you mailing back your stuff and post it online, narrating the reasons - I think people need to voice what they are feeling and doing if they are ever going to get some resonance with this administration - which is obviously in a bubble right now

you are obviously an Obama supporter (hence the shirts) but you are being left short by actions being taken, so let them hear you

20. Actually, it's the sort of symbolic gesture that politicians do "listen" to
In the same way that hand written letters are more persuasive than e-mails....

What would you think (and report) if you were a staffer and these sorts of things kept coming in the mail?

My bet is that you wouldn't be laughing.

in which he forgot to say his "plan" would also force us to buy health insurance, even if we can't afford it.

I never did get an Obama t-shirt--gee, I'm sooo sorry

Then maybe he can figure out just what it means for you to mail him a shirt. BTW, I hope you launder it first. Otherwise it could be considered boorish.

26. No don't.
I am starting to readjust my expectations of the President. He may not ever be all that I was hoping for, but if we cripple him now, make him a lame duck, the Repubs will smell blood and eviscerate him -- with our help, and he achieve anything progressives want. Am I angry and frustrated? 110%! But I am not gonna broadcast anything that will support the 100% bought and paid for Repub party. Unfortunately, we have only one president, and we.... ach! Never mind. Do whatever you want. Really. We each have to do what we think is best, and I am on a rollercoaster with this set of leaders in Washington. I don't know WTF to do.

This is what I go thru every ramen day!

30. Ignore the kool-aid drinking unreccers. This is exactly what needs to be done.
If I'd had the spare cash lying around last year to pick up any Obama merch I'd sure as hell be sending it back too. Maybe then he'll realize that he's good and fucked his brand that he worked so hard to cultivate.
