Anger ramps up in Congress over Obama’s legal defense of Libya operation
Source: The Washington Post

On Capitol Hill, legislators who disagree with President Obama’s legal defense of the military operation in Libya will have two options when they resume their session this week. They could try to cut off funding for the campaign, or they could formally register their disapproval that Obama did it without congressional say-so.

The first tactic has rarely worked in U.S. history.

And the second one hasn’t worked on Obama so far.

Unhappiness in Congress was magnified Saturday by a report that Obama ignored some of his legal counselors when he decided last week that the Libya campaign should not be counted as “hostilities.”

1. Nixon gave us an Imperial presidency
and all his sucessors built upon it. The US form of government as concieved by the founders, has failed at all levels.

2. The hell of it is, he is such an adroit speaker that he could simply
go to congress, make a speech, and they will AUTHORIZE whatever he wants. He'd have Dems backing him, because he's the leader of the party; he'd have Repubs backing him because face it, they love our wars; he'd have Dems, Repubs and independents backing him because he followed the forms and went to congress for authorization.

I mean, what the FUCK is he doing?

3. It's politics. The weaseling GOPers *want something* and they're using *lying blackmail* to get it.
And so many people buy in to it that it's disgusting.

5. Heck, I wonder why there has been no public or congressional outrage over the fact that
we have apparently been secretly bombing Yemen for over a year, without being told about it.
