If the bill stays as it is, and is signed as is, we have the RIGHT to expect and demand
that, THE NEXT DAY, legislation be introduced by the leadership of our party in BOTH houses

1)to reinstute all the cost controls
2)to allow the government to bargain for good drug prices
3)to remove the antitrust exemption for insurance
4)to create a ROBUST public option

We further have the right to demand that our leaders MAKE the Republicans and HighPremiumJoe filibuster for REAL, day after day, and to make them wear the filibuster in the next election, so we can mobilize to defeat the bastards who made the current bill meaningless.

We must make our leaders IMMEDIATELY start the effort to repair the damage and to help us elect the kind of Congress that will finally stand up to corporate power and return control of the government to all of us.

This is the way forward. This is what we need to fight for.

There are no other issues that matter before the next election.

La Lucha Continua!

2. The fact that WE were the ones who did the work that elected these people.
And because we're human beings with dignity.

That's what.

And making those demands and doing the work needed to make them stick are the tasks that lie ahead of us.

Our party has no right to expect us to just let this end for the year, especially if they're STILL going to demand that we work like hell to save their asses in the fall.

4. I think the party feels an obligation to corporations and big-$$ contributors
Do you really thing the party EVER considers "dignity" - whether a trait of the voter, or a trait of the party?

Of course they will expect our continued support . . . and will do so with not a twinge of conscience.

5. You don't get it. Right now Obama wants to get this behind him.
Now it is all about a Rose Garden signing ceremony. When he signs anything Axlerod will spin it as a monumental victory and we will get screwed for a photo op. You're still stuck in that "Change we can believe in" stuff.

3. Umm, our elected officials represent the corporations, not us.
The system is f*cked.

7. Such efforts will go nowhere.
We will be stuck with this bill and its corruption for decades.
