Why is this bill paying for Cialis and Viagra?
Since it denies women any coverage for an abortion, it should also deny men any coverage for Cialis and Viagra.

It's only fair...

right to not cover abortion.

4. It does not deny women "any" coverage for abortion
It maintains Hyde and allows for an abortion rider, which is more than a lot of insurance companies offer now.

7. Because ABORTION is not a Quality ofr LIFE
Edited on Sat Dec-19-09 12:27 PM by rsmith6621
....Issue......Think of it..Not having a legitimate ability to have an erection is a quality of life and relationship issue.....an abortion is a choice issue.....an erection is not in many cases..

Viagra/Cialas is also used to treat heart issues.

I actually believe that Viagra/Cialas should be on the Wal-Mart $4.00 drug list.

DON'T EVEN GO THERE...

27. Oh. My. God.
You are saying that the ability to have an erection is more important, more fundamental, more of a quality of life issue than the ability to choose whether or not to give birth. You are saying that a 50-something guy who gets a trophy wife and can't keep his dick in the air for her, has more priority than a 40-something woman who has discovered that her fetus has anencephaly and wants to abort rather than wait and give birth to a full-term, doomed baby without a brain. And don't give me that shit that her abortion would surely fall under the "threat to the mother's life or health" clause -- that would be entirely up to whatever doctor she went to, it would be *their* decision, not hers, and there are more and more doctors whose so-called conscience would not allow them to approve that abortion. They would say that her life and health are not at risk.

Go. Fuck. Yourself. With your Viagra-induced-four-hour-long erection, asshole.

Don't even go there, indeed.

And to anyone else reading this, sorry for the profanity. This shit just chaps my hide.

11. You're comparing terminating a pregnancy to erectile disfunction?
Really?

Arguing that allowing tax subsidies and other tax incentives to prevent a woman from getting and "insurance-covered abortion" is wrong is one thing, and that is a valid argument, but when you start comparing the terminationm of the pregnancy to eretile disfunction you've lost all credbility.

41. I agree, I think things like this should be considered elective prescriptions
A quick story to bore you with. I happened to be watching football today (which I don't get to do often since I live out of the county) and was using one of the free tv broadcasting sites to watch it. They had a commercial for Viagra and I was listening to the side-effects part. They said (and I'm paraphrasing here) "make sure to seek medical attention if you have an erection that last more then 4 hours".

My first thought, is who the hell needs a 4 hour erection? (Ok, besides Rush Limbaugh  )

Second though, Dear God, should they be able to say that on tv? I can hear the kids asking their parents: "Mommy, what is an erection?"

42. Because Cialis and Viagra make $$$ for Big Pharma
And since their target population includes men of Medicare age, Big Pharma lobbiests make sure that those drugs are covered and that no one is allowed to negotiate their price.

I have no problem with treating anyone's medical condition ... but this coverage decision was never about healthcare, it was about money.

The Stupak/Nelson amendments are not about healthcare either, they are about political power. Cute that Nelson also strong armed extra Medicaid money for his state ... while also guaranteeing his state will produce more members for medicaid than ever.

Wouldn't it be interesting to see a healthcare reform debate that was actually about healthcare?

WHy does the bill cover pre-natal and maternity care for the fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth pregnancies?

I don't want my tax dollars to go to wanton breeding, which I consider immoral.

You should get insurance coverage for the first two kids. After that, you're on your own. You want to have 10 kids? Great, pay for them yourself.
