Good Obama News (Quiet here), Bad Obama News (lots of noise)

Earlier this week Obama made forming unions much easier overturning a Bush rule. It was very quiet here about it (except for me and a few others). And today there is "bad" Obama news and it's not so quiet...everyone is coming out of the woods to type out their frustrations. This is fine. But it would also be nice to give credit (and remember) the many good things Obama has done as president www.whatthefuckhasobamadonesofar.com

Clinton did not accomplish 1/2 of what Obama has accomplshed in terms of progressive legislation and policy and yet Obama is viewed as another Bush...If you think you are going to get a more progressive president in the WH in the next 70, forget about it. I disagree with what Obama did today. But I also understand where he is coming from. Millions are losing jobs and right now he does not want to get in the way of hiring, even if that means putting off temporarily some regulations. Like I said, I disagree with this but understand Obama's position.

Seems to me that, with this administration, we are left to defend either a Democratic president or Democratic principles. Not trying to be snarky here, I really want to how you read Obama's presidency. I can like his good policies. Can you defend his bad decisions?

It is that he has turned his back on so many core policies and positions--like today's about face on the clean air regs. I support him still--what choice do we have-- but it is hard not to feel betrayed.

Well, sorry about that. Nice that he made union formation easier ... I don't know enough about those details to know how important that is but it sounds pretty important.

But ... environmental protection is one of my core issues ... and his record in that regard is very ambiguous It is the pattern of retreat that most disturbs me, rather than any single decision.

Despite these misgivings, Obama retains my support, if not my enthusiasm. I am leery of any the "primary him" approach (though I do understand how the advocates of a primary challenge feel). Anyone who thinks handing the Republicans a victory in 2012 is a good idea really needs to think that through carefully.

14. I expected a progressive president to support a progressive

agenda. To champion it. I for one think it is sad that it is news when he does. I cry out when he goes the other way on issues because each capitulation, each compromise from his original, acceptable (while perhaps not optimal) position of compromise is a bludgeon to my hopes for the democratic party I once more strongly believed in. He starts his negotiation around acceptable compromise and finishes in republicanland. That is unacceptable every time. Not what I voted for. Not something to be quiet about.

The fact that you are making a BIG DEAL out of Democrats (maybe) throwing a (maybe) crumb to LABOR says a lot.
Helping LABOR should be Ho-Hum business as usual for the Democratic Party.

Obama NEVER said he would agree to 'cut' SSN and/or Medicare benefits. He only said that he would not put any restrictions on what folks could 'talk' about. THAT IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE.

And the only reason Obama extended the Bush Tax-Cuts was because The GOP was holding the Unemployment Benefits Extension HOSTAGE!
The tax cuts will expire at the end of 2012,
and all those unemployed folks that got their benefit checks were able to put food on the table for their families.
