Ok....Y'all Win!
Edited on Fri Sep-02-11 07:28 PM by FrenchieCat
I say, let's have folks who want to find a viable candidate to primary Pres. Obama
do just that! I now support the idea!

Based on all of the dissatisfaction that I read about Pres. Obama day after day,
it may be a good idea to just have us fight it out among ourselves (since that's what we are doing anyways),
and it is sure to make some people very happy (most likely for about one hot minute).

I don't think that Pres. Obama can be attacked any worse than he already is, so there
won't be any loss there!

What with all of the bad weather, the earthquakes, the lousy economy and the endless wars, I think
a primary would give us something to look forward to, and give us a chance to vent our daily anger
against the entire world or against 30 years of fucked up policies, or against just one man....in the short run!

Plus, that way, there will be a bonafide excuse for those who attack this President relentlessly about anything and everything, day in, day out, as they will now have a candidate to defend, instead of just a President to attack. I'm thinking that some may currently be feeling rather trollish, as they are currently doing absolutely nothing but giving a big hand to the opposition and their media. Perhaps when one has to defend one's candidate, there will be less time for negative one-liner drive-byes and more intellectually honest debate of substance that deals with political reality and the actual lawful limitations of such. I'm all for giving folks something to be positive about, and having a candidate will force that to happen. :patriot:

Look, I'm for politically activating as many people as possible to actually do something instead of just sitting around talking shit, and having to prepare for primaries might just keep us all totally busy, since it doesn't appear that we have much of a stomach for attacking Republicans....so no loss there either!

I can't wait to witness the cynics and the perpetually unhappy start to really, really care about the nearby future. Or watch the doomsdayers and the naysayers have someone to align themselves with. It will possibly bring the truth to powerers and the Utopian day dreamers together to get something concrete done. Plus the RW trolls, the PL, the DLC, and the firebaggers can fight each other formally. We can have the half empty glass go up against the half full glass, and the petty nitpickers go against the big picture supporters. This should also engage the AA community, and the young and old alike to get involved in choosing sides and getting pissed enough to get out in the trenches and not only get mad, but to eventually get even!

And let us not forget our loyal corporate media who will be in heaven when adding up our money that they'll rake in for advertising and such (cause campaigns aren't free). This will be good for them too!

Now, I do think that the Internet mouths all over will deserve all of the consequences
that will come from this endeavor, whether it works out or it doesn't, and they should get all
of the credit, as it is brilliant (for the Republicans, more-so).

What I do hope is that once everything is said and done, I won't have to hear from them again
unless they unite with the winner. If we end up with an irreparably divided party and a Republican President, oh well....at least we fought, and fought hard...and fighting is what we demand anyways.....so there's that! :patriot:

Now who is this viable candidate I keep hearing about? :bounce:

I'm listing what my candidate has accomplished to date,
and once your candidate is chosen, I'd like to see his/her list! OK?

There is much fodder here to attack....so read the list very carefully and take some notes!
Bookmark it if you have to, as the future will soon be ours, or yours, or theirs, or whatever!
At the end of the day, who really gives a good shit.....?
I say, let's just have some fun!

66. What is the criticism you take issue with? You NEVER state which criticism you disagree with
your CONSTANT refrain is to generically complain about bashing and criticism of Obama but never actually state what criticism you're taking issue with as being unfair or going too far.

i mean, are you just Chris Crocker or something?

now, another explanation is that you don't actually read the criticisms of the president which is why you don't often identify the criticism you think is wrong or unfair.

Not Exactly

If you follow the link, they published "guidelines" and "hope" the industry will "police itself" so it can avoid regulations.

(We all know how self-policing works out) ( Of course, Obama's irresistible aura and smile could make them rethink what they're doing :sarcasm:)

64. What half truth?
That's not a half truth. He loosened the rules for users. Your article is about shop owners. Obama said he won't go - or the feds won't go after - users. He didn't say the feds won't go after the shop owners. Also the states are going after neither, but the federal laws allow the feds to go after the shop owners.

I'm watching Olbermann right now. The CoC gave The Presidents latest back off on SMOG emissions a big thumbs up! I ask you this respectfully. And although you may not believe me I do have an open mind. What is the explanation for this latest cave that is being labeled as "worse then Bush would have done"?

And please do not insult me by telling me it will help with jobs.

Oh and PS. Sorry to not answer your question. I have no candidate right now. I am so angry and so disillusioned with the Democratic Party at this point, I don't know what to do.

So you tear me a new asshole because I don't think this guy is worth my time. And guess what? I'll still vote for him if that is the only choice. What a completely dismal choice that is.

33. I don't agree with this SMOG emissions reversal......
Edited on Fri Sep-02-11 08:41 PM by FrenchieCat
My understanding is that the EPA was going to do an interim change. The standards (last done by W in '08) are reviewed every 5 years. That will be 2013, so rather than change now and change again in 2 years, he requested the EPA wait until the normal review.

Fossil fuel Democrats in the Senate also failed us greatly by blocking the cap-and-trade bill and now, EPA regulation is what we have left to deal with climate change and move to clean energy.

the EPA's Cross State Air Pollution Rule hasn't been dialed back however:
Cutting pollution from power plants and industrial sources: EPA finalized additional Clean Air Act protections that will slash hundreds of thousands of tons of smokestack emissions that travel long distances through the air leading to soot and smog, threatening the health of hundreds of millions of Americans living downwind. The Cross-State Air Pollution Rule will reduce air pollution (including ozone) and is projected to prevent up to 34,000 deaths annually, producing annual estimated net benefits in excess of $100 billion. Twenty seven states in the eastern half of the country will work with power plants to cut air pollution under the rule, which leverages widely available, proven and cost-effective control technologies. Many power plants covered by the rule have already made substantial investments in clean air technologies to reduce SO2 and NOx emissions.
http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2011/09/02/cleaner-air-and-stronger-economy-record-success

And so I'm asking you what your candidate will do about that,
and what makes you so sure that it will happen as he/she promises?

35. Just did.
Like I say....I don't agree with all that has or is being done,
but there are much that I do agree with.

I don't throw out the baby with the bathwater.....
because we have too long a way to go.

Anger should be turned into action.

I was angry when Clinton signed the Welfare reform act
of 1996, and yet I still wasn't so disillusioned till I walked away,
not even close. The bill was signed in August, and the elections for
2nd term was in November.

In fact, in his 2.8 years, I cannot find one thing that Obama has done
that was worse than anything Clinton had done....and yet, Clinton just
wasn't judged so harshly about every single thing. He just wasn't. Perhaps
you didn't support Clinton, but I'm glad he won instead of his opponent....still,
to this day.

36. I supported Clinton as much as Obama.
I found him to be incredibly disengenuous. But maybe that just goes with the job. And I know this will be very unpopular here. But I will never forgive that fool for the Lewinsky thing. He knew, HE KNEW they were after him, and he couldnt keep it in his pants. And as stupid as it is, that hurt our party big time.

And believe me I totally agree Obama is facing bullshit twice as hard as Clinton because he is black.

As far as throwing the baby out with the bathwater. I haven't. I will vote for the man in 2012 period.

37. Well, good to talk to you about this, and yes......
this ain't no rose garden!

I just hope we can sweep in enough Democrats that will, this time,
do what is right for this country.

I remember those 400+ bills that the house passed that ended up dying in the Senate...
and sometimes, I lament the fact that this democracy was set up to protect the party
out of power as much if not more so, the party in power.

And yes, what Bill did in terms of his intern was messed up....
but it seemed like it inexplicably helped his personal popularity,
even if the country did almost nothing for the 2 years that we had impeachment
proceedings.

We have been a messed up nation for so long, till I don't see the ship getting righted
possibly even in my lifetime...but I won't stop trying to make it even a little bit better,
that's for sure.

Even if it's only by my vote for Obama against a batshit insane fool like Perry or Bachmann then that will be my effort at making it better. And as much as I criticize Prez Obama I honestly believe anyone that advocates not voting or voting for a Repuke has no place on this board.

Obama has not said that emission regulations should be abolished - he said that since there will be a BIG emission regulation upgrade in 2013 he saw no point of changing anything now because everything will be changing anyway in 2013.

44. There is no spin. To love or support Obama is not to love and support all his decisions.
Why is it for some many people to fuckin' understand that? I don't agree with this decision. I don't agree with him going to Libya (despite the "supposed" success), I don't or didn't agree with drilling off shore or the later reissue of licenses. However, I said one thin that stated where I stood on those matters and if one asked me...do I love and support my President---there is no damned question in my mind. Has he endless disappointed me? Hardly, his successes, which means successes for the American people far surpass where he has disappointed me. Do I want more from him? Without a doubt.

There is no spin as you so put when one understands his frame works or dislikes his decision. We move and hope he changes his mind, work to change his mind, and expect more on the issue in future. Obama may have done what he did with the EPA, but he's also done:

1. http://wilderness.org/content/conservation-minded-president-look-obama%E2%80%99s-first-100-days-office

2. http://ecocentric.blogs.time.com/2011/01/04/its-official-obama-signs-shark-conservation-act/

And a hell of a lot more. So spinning is not necessary. Am I disappointed, as I said yes. Do I support Obama 10,000% or more...hell fuckin' yes! Understand why we love the President---instead of assuming we just love and/or support and/or want the President to succeed mindlessly. But I don't think you'll ever get it.

52. See, I think there are about 10 posters on GPD who defend almost anything Obama does.....
and I do not understand it. Either they defend him or just do not complain about him ever. Even when he is really wrong. Even when he seems to pamper the GOP. Even when he does not fight when he should.

Obama has some major issues. I will 100% vote for him but I no longer have the drive and feelings I did when I worked for him in 2008.

That does not make me a bad liberal, I think it makes me a realistic liberal. I never want to be so attached to any politician.

My vision of Obama is still 100 times better than the best GOP candidate. But Obama has not lived up to the expectations I had. Maybe that means my expectations were too high. Maybe.
