During the campaign I heard Obama say he'd like single payer, but he said it was just not
in the cards or not possible to make it happen. I don't remember his promising a pure single payer system, so I am not disappointed in him.

1. This is a good first step. It will be amended and modified by every Congress after its passage
Just like the tax code.

2. He said he'd be for drug reimportation. Not happening. He said he was against mandates: they are
in the bill. Still not disappointed?

What about this Nelson claptrap?

8. How about threatening to veto a bill that didn't meet his requirements?
As opposed to pressuring Senators to vote against drug reimportation to keep his backroom deal with PhARMA intact. No dictatorship required, just using the power of his office and the bully pulpit.

18. how do you know he pressured them against it
What i saw on the news a short while back was him talking about wanting it to happen; so unless you have proof on that I'm gonna disregard that section.

21. The veto threat sure worked for Clinton in getting Hillcare oked.
Threatening people who are lukewarm about reforming health insurance is not going to get a bill passed.

19. Why don't we all wait until a bill comes out of conference
Then we'll have to wait until THAT bill is passed. Who knows what the bill's going to look like after it goes through that Rube Goldberg process. We may be beating our breasts for nothing. Literally.

9. Yes, though he put it in the affirmative...
http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/07/obama-demands-the-bill-i-sign-must-include-public-option.php

"Any plan I sign must include an insurance exchange: a one-stop shopping marketplace where you can compare the benefits, cost and track records of a variety of plans - including a public option to increase competition and keep insurance companies honest - and choose what's best for your family."

7. His excuse in that speech was lame saying that we have to build on what we have and can't
start something from scratch. HELLLO! We have Medicare that can be built on, that is already operating successfully and is in place, to be built on, yet even the 55 + buy in wasn't acceptable to our real government, the corporations.

Well, I'm not disappointed in him either because he was my second to last candidate in the election so I voted for him. I actually like him very much and the day he turns to the left we might see some greatness and not a guy in a suit standing by and watching the world go by.

10. During the campaign I heard Obama oppose the individual mandate.
In fact, he ran this ad against Hillary:

Now what? Are you disappointed now? I am.

Kill the bill.

Forcing people to buy insurance is no more the answer to a failed health care system than forcing people to buy houses is the solution to homelessness.

14. Obama said a lot of things during the campaign that he has no intention of following through on.
Just like every other politician, he will say anything to get you to vote for him.
