Drought, Wildfires but Perry says no to climate change idea

Drought, Wildfires Haven't Changed Perry's Climate-Change Views

Rick Perry heats up the atmosphere every time he talks about climate change. He's an avowed global warming doubter who once quipped,
"The biggest source of carbon dioxide is Al Gore's mouth."

Perry set off the debate again in New Hampshire recently when he said, "I think we're seeing weekly, and even daily, scientists who are coming
forward and questioning the original idea that manmade global warming is what is causing the climate to change."

He went further in his book, Fed Up: "The complexities of the global atmosphere have often eluded the most sophisticated scientists."

For the record, the US National Academy of Sciences, along with the science academy of every major industrialized nation, believes that
human activities — such as burning fossil fuels and cutting forests — contribute to increased concentrations of greenhouse gases in the
atmosphere, which is heating the planet.

2. Considering climate change would ruin his economic plan
He cannot accept climate change since that would de-legitimize his economic plan for the country -
exploiting all resources for energy. As long as he pretends climate change and pollution are not significant issues,
he can talk about creating jobs using oil drilling and other energy resource mining. Simple solutions for the simple-minded.

4. After all that science stuff is all kind of nasty
http://www.climatesciencewatch.org/2011/04/29/texas-wildfires-rage-amidst-historic-drought-conditions-denial-of-science-in-washington-dc-confronted-by-climate-reality/

Texas wildfires rage amidst historic drought conditions. Denial of science in Washington, DC, confronted by climate reality.

"It’s not just because the temperature is higher, it’s a combination of changes that are set in motion by the changing climate,"
said David Cleaves, the climate change adviser to the chief of the U.S. Forest Service (Climate Central, April 27). “What’s happening
today in Texas and the Southwest should be a wake-up call on climate change. These are the kinds of conditions that we expect
to see more often as climate warms,” said Dr. Julia Cole, Professor of Geosciences, University of Arizona (Project on Climate Science, April 25)

6. Perry practically admitted during the last debate: The real reason
they will never admit to Climate Change and the notion
that it could be Man-Made--it will be too costly to
Business.

The Republicans being the Business Party can never admit
to Global Warming, Climate Change, Whatever. Measures
to correct the problem will hit their primary consituency.

Even if they know in their hearts, there is something to
this Climate change situation, they can never admit it.

It might be more effective to call them out on this
than just calling them anti-science.
