He was the GOP minority whiz-kid until Katrina and some other goofs that made him look like an inexperienced goof. At 40-years-old, he's in a tight spot. There's no way in hell, the GOP would nominate a non-white to run against Obama in 2012. They consider the White House stolen property, taken from white, old men. If Obama wins again (which he will), the same situation/attitude will apply in 2016. In 2020, if a republican is the incumbent, he can't run, and there's no way he can guarantee being in the veep slot since it's so far in the future. In about 8 years, will republican attitudes change about having a non-white nominee? Still doubtful. But if he's in the veep slot in 2012 and wins, and they win again 2016, then he's the "incumbent," and will have some mojo to overcome the racism mostly by benefit of being one of the two biggest faces of the GOP for 8 years.

Perry is his best way to the presidency.
