There is a lot of panic currently in the Democratic base

but I think many are underrating how powerful this job's bill will be the American economy and psyche if it passes. For those not aware, Pericles of Ancient Athens generated a mass jobs program after the second Persian War for the common Athenians to partake in, which created an impact in two ways:

1. Democracy no longer in name only, but truly with all the people.
2. Re-distributing the wealth to the lower classes away from concentrating it to the nobles

Democracy thrives on these two points, and they feed on each other. If the concentration of wealth shifts too much to the aristocracy, then you are left with a Democracy in name only, and the U.S.A. is fast reaching that point. As a Democratic Republic, the United States has a golden opportunity to turn this ship around for the better, prestine waters ahead. If Obama can pull it off he should be commended and supported.

1. Boehner just gave it a resounding NO in a speech. It will not

pass, period.

I usually say wait until we see, but Boehner made it clear. He actually said "tax increases are off the table". ]

4. No suprise

The Republicans made it clear 2.5 years ago they will NEVER agree to ANYTHING this President wants ... even if it's their original idea.

7. I know, but I, at least, was glomming on to the talk that maybe

the Republicans were beginning to get nervous because of the polls, so they might come around.

I guess the benefactors speak louder than the voters.

I've been called naive and really, I have to realize that I am. Sigh.

2. overselling it is counterproductive, imo

I've heard a good case for it on pragmatic grounds: it will help a lot of people that are in desperate circumstances now, it has a chance of passing, it's good politically, etc.

If people start saying it's revolutionary, it's going to turn everything around, it's going to lead us into "pristine waters", everyone's going to think it's a bunch of bull. They're going to think it's "hope and change" all over again.

3. Priorities are screwed

I can't understand why the same morons who don't want to spend a dime on maintenance of any infrastructure, have no problem spending money on a freaking FENCE!

If your house is falling apart and your family is starving ... who cares about a Fence Perimeter?
