Michelle Bachmann- "Obamacare Is The Worst Thing That Happened To America (Americans)"
Edited on Sun Sep-18-11 01:39 PM by DemocratSinceBirth
Thus said famed historian and health care expert Michelle Bachmann

Worse than 9-11 ?

Worse than Pearl Harbor ?

Worse than Watergate ?

Worse than The Trail Of Tears?

Worse than slavery?

Worse than infecting unwitting African American prisoners with syphilis to test the effects?

Worse than the Dred Scott decision?

Really, Ms. Bachmann?

1. Pretty lame.
It probably is the worst thing that happened to Jobs recently though. I think it puts a lot of uncertainty into things and makes employers nervous about hiring people.

But some people are benefitting from it's provisions so it's a matter of what your priorities are.

2. I Really Think It Was A Small Bore Effort

Nothing radical about it. I was uninsured before and I am uninsured now. It's not as if we were given something similar to Britain's National Health Service.

As to the economy you will never convince me that the economy's biggest problem isn't a lack of good old aggregate demand.

3. That is part of it. But being one of those who gets stuck with extra hours
As a co-workers hours are cut when demand hasn't really changed I can tell you sometimes that isn't it either.

4. I Just Don't See Any Demand
I think Americans are in a funk or as Lord Keynes would say investors/entrepreneurs/businesspeople are suffering from a lack of "animal spirits".

7. Everyone is rebuilding their balance sheets.
Edited on Sun Sep-18-11 02:05 PM by dkf
Just think what you need to save to pass down the same way of life you had to your kids. That is a lot of money.

$2 million will do ok for you, but multiply that by each kid and that is a boatload of funds. I think most parents realize their kids won't be able to do what they did even at the upper middle class level, maybe especially at the upper middle class level.

No one feels safe, except at the Warren Buffet level.

17. As a result of "Obamacare"?
There are people who WERE worth, on paper, millions who have gone bankrupt as a result of insurance get outs.

I guess that is absolutely dandy to you.

6. Worse than the entire presidency
of George W. Bush?

Worse than Reagan's?

Worse than the deliberate defunding of schools and the wholesale trashing of teachers?

Worse than Hurricanes Katrina and Irene?

Worse than the entire Depression?

So many things to compare Obamacare to, and so little time. Or thought, in the case of Ms. Bachmann.

8. From her point of view
911 was not so bad - it bought the nation together and started a nice war. Pearl Harbor, ditto. Watergate was not all that bad - just a little break in - the Trail of Tears was perfectly acceptable and necessary for the Manifest Greatness of America, slavery was fine - slaves preferred it, they had lifetime medical care and housing (yes, I have seen this argument - in they century).

9. Juvenile fearmongering and catastrophizing.
It works for narcissistic 6-year-olds but to see grown-ups behave this way is embarrassing. Not to her obviously - just the sane people in the country.

10. I agree, Bachmann is narcissitic , but maybe a 4 year old, not a 6..even
Edited on Sun Sep-18-11 02:36 PM by Stuart G
a six year old might understand 9/11, and even a narcissitic one would understand it was more important then insurance reform.

She sounds like an Idiot out of the closet....

What does she actually know to make National Decisions affecting our General Well being??

So far....her comments indicate a flawed understanding of too many areas...she is one step above a rookie airhead...

13. It sure isn't the universal health care (or pony) that I
wanted, but even though it is insurance reform bill that does not control costs, it does help. Soon, (hopefully) no more pre-existing conditions, no maximum payouts, young people can stay on their parents policies longer..

We deserve universal health care and the increased profits stink, but the few conditions that I mentioned, do help.
