Carville on Possible Primary Challenge: Nader Has Done Enough Damage
Carville on Possible Primary Challenge: Nader Has Done Enough Damage[/b>

<...>

“Don’t you think Ralph Nader has done enough damage to the country? I mean, he was probably single handedly responsible for electing George Bush,” the Democratic strategist said on “GMA.” “Maybe the man should consider retiring.”

<...>

I'll even agree with a Democrat like Carville over the clown Nader.

Nader isn't even a Democrat and he's out talking up a primary challenge of the Democratic President to every RW asshole (Fox, Tucker Carlson) who will listen.

This is a GOP/media-driven attempt to confuse people who aren't paying close attention to the dynamics.

18. Nader couldn't even answer the twitter question. He went off on an endless rant
It was fascinating, showed his true colors as far as I am concerned.

2. And I think Carville has done enough damage and should STFU.
Is he missing the limelight? I don't and didn't miss him.

3. Exactly what "damage to the country" did Nader do?
And no, he did not hand over the 2000 election to the Rs. There were many factors at work there.

"Exactly what 'damage to the country' did Nader do?"

...for one, that fucker pushed the "Gore = Bush" and "Democrats are no different from Republican" memes.

It's really ironic that after all the bullshit he has done, he's suddenly trying instigate a Democratic primary when he's not even a member of the party.

11. that is just plain bs
The votes just weren't there. Well over 80% of the provisional ballots would have had to be for Kerry and the county wasn't that Democratic.

But they are important. Thanks. And you are dead on, as uncomfortable as that may be for some people to accept.

19. That's what Blackwell "claimed" after he was tipped off by Mary Matalin
based on her husband's "tip" that Kerry was ready to contest Ohio.

Do you expect any of us to believe that Blackwell was telling the truth?

15. Did he bribe them? Was Gore entitled to those votes? Have you asked any of those 97,000 people why
they chose Nader instead of Gore? This is now a decade-long argument, but I still don't understand why Gore supporters think that Gore was entitled to those 97,000 votes.

17. the 97,000 voters had every right to throw away their vote on a loser, and they did. The consequence
of that action was 8 years of George W. Bush. Simple stuff. Same for the 200,000 "registered" Democrats that voted for Bush. Both took action that resulted in the most divise, failed, unaccomplished president in the last 80 years.

Bad choice. I wish they chose otherwise.

20. Don't blame Nader or his voters; IMO
I voted for Perot in 1992 for my first ever vote.

I didn't vote in 1996 because I forgot to register when I moved out of my home state in August. I had some doubts about Clinton (NAFTA etc) and probably would have made certain to register if I thought Bob Dole was a legit threat.

I almost voted for Nader in 2000, but voted Gore instead because of W. By then, I was in my mid-twenties.

I voted for Kerry in 2004. Without question.

I voted for Obama in 2008. Without question.

*************************************

There's my voting record. So let's set this straight:

I didn't vote for Bush in 1992.

I didn't even vote in 1996.

I didn't vote for Nader or W in 2000.

I didn't vote for W in 2004.

I didn't vote for McCain in 2008.

*************************************

Only in 1996 did I "help" someone else other than my preferred candidate by not voting. In all other cases, I only helped my candidate.

Ralph Nader and those that voted for him didn't help Bush get elected. The people that voted for Bush helped get Bush elected. And the US Supreme Court. And the media who were already trending conservative. And myriad other things...

To say Nader is to blame is to say a his supporters shouldn't have voted and to blame said persons for W winning when they didn't vote for him is very questionable.

Am I misunderstanding democracy? I didn't vote for Ralph Nader in 2000; I voted for Gore. But if I did, I wouldn't have helped get W elected. I would have merely been a citizen exercising my right to vote. Period.
