This year's gathering coincides with separate conservative meetings occurring at hotels or the Orange County Convention Center within walking distance of Presidency 5. The CPAC meeting has scheduled appearances by all of the GOP presidential contenders, plus Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, conservative columnist Ann Coulter and Grover Norquist, whose "taxpayer protection pledge" barring tax increases has been signed by scores of legislators, members of Congress and candidates.
There is also a Faith and Freedom Coalition (Ralph Reed's new political gig) rally set for today, featuring most of the GOP presidential candidates just a few hours before their televised debate, along with state Cabinet members. The Tea Party Movement of Florida has also set up a "Suite Tea" hospitality area with events scheduled for participants in the CPAC and Presidency 5 conferences today and Friday.
