1. No
Who cares who leaked it.

Shit---they should admit it.

Cain is a scumbag.

8. Who cares who leaked it
It isn't a smear campaign. It is true. A smear implies it is false. Cain wants to make it about Perry, but it is about Cain and that won't change.

3. Resign for leaking the truth about another candidate?
Really?

They make up stories all the time and try their damndest to smear lies. Yet we are supposed to be concerned when they leak an actual truthful story (as this very much APPEARS to be?)

4. There are any number of good reasons why (P)rick Perry should resign
but the Cain leak is not one of them (assuming, of course, that his campaign is behind it). This is politics, after all, and from what I'm given to understand, the leak is merely a truthful account of events. As much as I hate to say it, (P)rick Perry doesn't have to resign or even drop out of the repug freak show; it's just politics as usual - odious though that may be. If Texans want him out of office, they need to focus on instances where he's actually broken laws - not leaking the truth against a political opponent.

5. Nope--why should he? and it really is only Cain guessing who leaked it.
He doesn't know anything for sure.

7. Rick Perry should drop out of the race, but not for that reason. He should drop out for
embarrassing the hell out of the Republican party for extreme goofball behavior.

13. No - the story was true
If it were them, it would have taken more guts to be upfront about it - stating that it was brought forward because he is the frontrunner and behavior like that is both offensive and would be devastating if he became the nominee. Here, there are too many people who likely knew and it would have eventually come out.

Imagine in 2008, that either Obama or Clinton had 100% certainty about Rielle Hunter AND John Edwards was the front runner, rather than a far behind number 3. Would you want that candidate to say something or possibly because of Elizabeth's situation, quietly gave him the option of dropping out with dignity "to be with Elizabeth"?

If the story were false, it is still likely the candidate could not be directly connected - so even then they would likely not drop out.

14. No... why?
Cain might not like it, but it seems to be fact, so it hardy qualifies as a "smear", no matter who leaked/found it.

16. There Are Plenty of Better Reasons for Perry to Quit
Top of the list, Perry's past ties to terrorists. A Texas paper is reporting this:

Rick Perry's Ties to a Terrorist Militia

Rick Perry denies he ever spoke in favor of Texas secession from the United States. But records show he not only spoke in favor of secession, Perry spoke at a rally attended by secessionist leaders and a top Perry aide met with secessionist leaders privately. Perry went on to push for legislation favored by secessionists and others. One of the groups he sought the support of, the Republic of Texas militia, has a long history of terrorism, including plots to assassinate a Republican governor (later president), a Democratic president, attempted attacks on a US Army base and federal building, and attempts to acquire missiles and biological weapons.
