With credit to former Pennsylvania governor, Ed Rendell for coining the term

2. Bachmann. I think she really believes all the batshit stuff she
says -- the others are just politicians and it doesn't really matter what they say.

3. This was a difficult one, but I decided on Cain. He appears to be the biggest loon
because unlike Bachmann, Cain doesn't memorize speeches he sticks to. Nope. Everything we see and hear is straight from his crazy head. Bachmann appears to stick to pre-printed speeches and idiot-cards.

7. I think both Rick Perrys are nuts.
But you could make a case for any of them -- even Huntsman for believing he has a chance to win the nomination.

9. It's a veritable asylum
Romney is slick and slippery and doesn't fully reveal his psychopathology. But just his failure to take a consistent position on any issue from one day to the next without realizing his inconsistency is a sign of significant mental disturbance.

12. Can't choose among the nine ninnies
Bachmann, Cain, Perry and Santorum and definitely the frontrunners, but each of those is too loony to measure.

13. Still gotta go with Bachman
but a few are beginning to become competitive. It will be tough to take this trophy away from her, but Cain and Perry are making a pretty good run of it. Ron Paul is a serious loon, but isn't making much progress on her as his lunacy seems to have peaked a few years ago and he is just resting on his laurels. It seems like Paul is not really trying. Romney has too many semi-lucid moments to get into this race, besides who can tell where he is anyway, true loons stake out an untenable position and stick with it, facts be damned. Santorum is not bright enough to innovate new forms of lunacy to put on display, he has a few practiced set pieces, but could not get there for trying as he has no imagination for true lunacy at its highest levels. Gingrich is just an evil curmudgeon, he is not even in the same league. Huntsman - the only remotely loony thing he has done was to enter this race, an insane move for sure, but the rest have done this and far better.
