Cain's favorability drops after accusations: poll

By Steve Holland | Reuters – 3 hrs ago..

WASHINGTON (Reuters)

The poll showed the percentage of Republicans who view Cain favorably dropped 9 percentage points, to 57 percent from 66 percent a week ago.

Among all registered voters, Cain's favorability declined 5 percentage points, to 32 percent from 37 percent.

The survey represents the first evidence that sexual harassment claims dating from Cain's time as head of the National Restaurant Association have taken a toll on his presidential campaign.

A majority of respondents, 53 percent, believe sexual harassment allegations against Cain are true despite his denials. Republicans were less likely to believe they are true, with 39 percent thinking they are accurate.

1. He said China was trying to develop nukes during all that....
I would hope that had more of an impact on his favorability than his being an alleged horn dog.

2. Engaging in sexual harrassment is not the same as 'being a
horn dog'. Among other things, it means he's a raging hypocrite, as he is a huge 'sanctity of marriage Christian'. So logic tells us his actions mean he is willing to lie about all he calls holy, as well as to his wife, while slandering others as tainting the Sacred nature of his own marriage. Many a horn dog do none of those things at all.

5. We don't know what the behavior was
If it was indeed an invitation to a tryst, I expect Cain's support to vanish faster than Rick Perry's. If he was simply making hand gestures during a meeting that seemed inappropriate, most GOP'ers are going to shrug it off.

4. I would like to think that the fact that he doesn't know anything about anything would have some
affect on his poll ratings, even among Republicans. But I'm not sure that it does.
