Gov. Christie's efforts to boost GOP's chances in legislative elections fall short
The Star-Ledger: Gov. Christie's efforts to boost GOP's chances in legislative elections fall short

TRENTON — For months, Gov. Chris Christie traveled around the country collecting political I.O.U’s for himself and millions of dollars for the state Republican Party.

He recorded campaign commercials for a few Republicans with a chance of edging their Democratic opponents. He held high-priced fundraisers for them, and in the final days of the campaign he made a handful of public appearances at diners and news conferences.

And rather than consoling and recalibrating a defeated a state Republican Party, he planned to spend most of today in New Hampshire and Boston with supporters of Mitt Romney, whom he has endorsed for the Republican presidential nomination.

"Tomorrow he’s going up to help Mitt Romney," Assemblyman John Wisniewski (D-Middlesex), the state Democratic chairman, said Tuesday night. "I hope he does for Mitt Romney in New Hampshire what he did for Republicans in New Jersey."

Bloomberg: Christie’s Republicans Lose Seat in New Jersey Legislature After Elections

New Jersey Republicans lost one seat in the state Legislature even after Governor Chris Christie campaigned for candidates and drew out-of-state donations.

Democrats maintained their 24-16 control over the Senate and added one seat in the Assembly, giving them a 48-32 edge, according to the Associated Press and Star-Ledger. Votes for all 120 seats in the Legislature were cast yesterday.

In two Senate races where Christie campaigned and raised money, Republicans failed to unseat incumbent Democrats in the district that includes Atlantic City and in the election to represent central Bergen County.

“I have a feeling there’s not much of a party in Drumthwacket tonight,” said Democrat Robert Gordon, who held onto his Senate seat in the Bergen County race, referring to the governor’s mansion in Princeton.

Christie has no coattails

Loud-mouthed Mook pissed off lots of people with his Bully act.

Another in the long line of, "Is this the best they got? Then they got nothin'."

4. My local Republican state senator sent out a flyer boasting about Christies screwing over the unions
I had actually for a moment of madness considered voting for the guy because I had once met him back when the libraries were facing massive cuts and he received us well, listened to us, asked intelligent questions and actually helped to ameliorate the worst of the cuts. (a massive call in campaign with by library users not doubt helped too--they said they'd never gotten calls on any other issue quite as intense as those before). I've always said that if I could find a decent Republican I wouldn't have any problem voting for him or her.

This moment of medness ended when a flier arrived in my mail showing said State Senator gleeing it up with Christie after the vote to cut union bargaining power (to be fair many Democrats voted for the same bill--traitors)

I voted straight Democrat and when I couldn't find a Democrat in my heavily Republican area I voted Independent.
